kramer (1868), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 18, 2006 12 oz bottle, 2005 vintage, via sk8viking. Pours a deep rusty brown with a fluffy billowy off-white head two fingers in height. Lots of visible carbonation. Glass almost completely coated with sticky lacing. Nice spicy and fruity aroma, gingersnap cookies, licorice, candied plums, belgian yeast, and orange rind combine for a rather complex nose. Flavor is very sweet with dark fruits, spices, caramel, toffee, and light yeast. Some alcohol, but very well hidden at 10%, coming out in the finish with licorice and candi sugar. Medium bodied with high carbonation that foams slightly in the mouth and leaves behind a slightly sticky and cloying finish. A very nice complex Belgian, on par almost with a Rochefort 10 in the sense of flavor complexity. Worth seeking out, I’d probably buy alot of this were it to become available in the US.
Mitch_Wayne (104), Kokkola, Finland Aug 31, 2008 Chocolatey brown colour and lovely foam make this an enticing looking beer and the enticing aroma makes me want to take an everlasting dive into my duvel glass. Roasty, sweet aroma with raisins and a vinous quality really got me all teary eyed, i had to restrict myself because i was in the company of men. The taste, oh the taste, there is everything in here that I want. The palate is perfectly soft, the rich malty taste, fruits, chocolate, so many notes here that i stop counting and just enjoy the hell out of the experience. So to make a long ramble tolerably short, I am gay for Pannepot. NoiZe (904), Zeist, Netherlands Aug 31, 2008 Edition 2007.
Dark colored brew. Fruity, sweet aroma. Flavor is very nice. Good balanced brew. Smooth, creamy, fruity, sweet and some very nice bitterness to blend it all together. I’m lucky to have some of those for specials days, french tickler (490), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada Aug 28, 2008 Shared with Pyrozoid @ L’autre Oeil
