kook (2035), Perth, Western Australia, Australia Feb 24, 2006 Deep, dark brown with ruby highlights. Lasting pillowy tan head. Tempting aroma of dark sugar, spices, chocolate, figs, raisins and caramel. Flaavour is sweet, yet not cloying. Some wonderful notes of prunes, choc, raisins, caramel, figs and light spice. Celebration in a bottle. Medium, silky smooth body. Such a well balanced, tasty beer. Top class, and very moreish. BückDich (4491), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 22, 2005 Bottle sampled @ RBSG 05’ (Montréal) Grand Tasting Dark auburn, thick tan head, tons of lacing. Nose of sweet caramel; no, beyond caramel, almost like carrot cake with a touch of fragrant hops. This is so good. I’m having a hard time putting the glass down to write, I don’t know how to commit this to paper. MartinT has a good rating, go read his, I’m going to enjoy this. yousee (49), Belgium Feb 20, 2005 Updated: Mar 19, 2006Bottled, drank it at kulminator Antwerp. Dark brown beer with dens creamy head. The aroma is sweet with mild spices, brown sugar, and dark brown chocolate. The taste lets me think of mild spice, brown sugar, liquorice, roasted malts, ripened fruits and raisins. Well balanced carbonation and light alcohol warming. The aftertaste gives me more spices, liquorice and sweetened maltsand some chocolate as well. Very complex for a dark ale. lululegrand (87), gent, Belgium Jan 8, 2005 Updated: May 8, 2005This is the best beer so far. Strange hazy warm brown color with thick creamy froth. powerfull sweet nose with touche of gingerbread, caramel, coffee, speculoos, and almondcakes. The taste is on the sweet side and has a complex mix of spices, tropical wood (cigare box) caramel, coffee and x-mas pudding. In the aftertaste also touches dried fruits. Newyear gift from my kids. Bugrat (53), Cph. V, Denmark Aug 7, 2005 One of the most complex beers I’ve ever had. Just so much happening in your mouth when drinking it.
