hophead_hans (555), Bay Area, California, USA May 2, 2008 Bottle at Kulminator. Pours with a dark brown color, aromas are of some spice that I cannot name. Some spices in the flavor profile, fruit and a bit of a kick add to the usual caramel and molasses profile. This is unique beer that has a very smooth finish.
rallison (34), USA Jul 23, 2008 This will be a comparison against my review of the Reserva. Read that for the baseline.
Altogether better than the Reserva. The flavors in this are just a bit more clear and not muddled whatsoever. While this has no barrel aging characteristics or the wine notes of the Reserva, this is still wonderfully complex with a great spice/brown sugar/raisin taste. Not quite as complex as the Reserva, but the flavors here mesh better and make this a truly delightful beer.
Highly recommended. foodtraveller (26), Belgium Jul 20, 2008 Very dark beer with a fast to disapear foam. The beer is a tipical struise with strong cnaging flavors and personality. Malt, dark fruit, bitter and dry. Very complex. Very long aftertaste which asks for slow drinking. Another fine struise. bhensonb (2728), Woodland, California, USA Jul 19, 2008 33 cl bottle; 2006. Dark, opaque brown color with a huge rocky tan head. Aromas of dark fruit, like dates, and roasted malts. Medium body with sweet notes of light stone fruit and treacle. It goes on like that, and the finish is lightly sweet, but nearly dry. It’s not a bitter finish, but it is incredibly tasty. Wonderful ale. RomanW70 (280), Providence, Rhode Island, USA Jul 17, 2008 Updated: Jul 19, 2008Had many Pannepots in Europe, but the one I rated was on tap from Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fŕ in Rome on 7/6. Just a beautiful beer, almost black caramel color with a thick off-white head. Aroma of cocoa, caramel, and dark fruits. Similar taste with additional vineous notes. A beautiful beer that deserves a place along Westy 12, St. Bernardus Abt. 12, and Rochefort 10. Great, great beer. Woodsman52 (17), , Ohio, USA Jul 14, 2008 Malty start and finish. nice dark color. rocky head that dies off sooner than later. coats your entire mouth with a caramel like texture. one of the best brews so far.
