In the early 1900s, the village of De Panne, close to the French border, was famous for two things -- the ‘Pannepots,’ or fishing boats, that could be seen along the coast, and the unique dark ale enjoyed by the local fishermen. Our Old Fisherman’s Ale is a tribute to these hardy sailors and their rich, flavorful brew. Unfiltered. Unpasteurized. Bottle-conditioned in 33cl and 75cl.

2006 bottle from State Line. Rich aroma of cherry, sour and sweet with spicy yeast and notes of caramel and raisin and faint vanilla. Bit of a light gusher, mahogany pour, noisy and nearly opaque ruby under light, with a light brown soapy head. Superbly malty taste, notes of rum, raisin, vanilla, cherry, and even smoke! Hearty and warming, full-bodied with a dry, smoky aftertaste that lingers. Velvety smooth mouthfeel. Sweet and spicy, only the faintest hint of sourness, with no bitterness. Dates, cream, and a touch of molasses with the memory of Belgian chocolate. A little spicy fruitcake: a rooty sort of spiciness, but blended to the point it is unidentifiable; finish wants to add notes of bourbon but veers off toward port instead. Rounded, fruity, balanced, with well-integrated alcohol; there’s a ton going on here. This is pretty much everything I’m looking for in a beer - what a complex beast!

2016/10/22 - Pours a cloudy dark brown amber colour with a thin, khaki head that quickly dissipates and leaves no lacing. Aroma is dried dark fruits (prunes, dates, raisins, doughy yeast, burnt caramel and dark bread. Taste is candi sugar, burnt caramel, prune, dates, bread and spices. Mouthfeel is medium and slick with low carbonation and a sweet, drying finish. Hides the ABV exceptionally well. Very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Piana szybciutko znika. W aromacie suszone owoce, czerwone owoce, alkohol lekko podbija te doznania. Jest intensywnie. W smaku dalej susz, sporo wiśni objawia się w nieco kwaskowaty sposób. Wysokie wysycenie.

Extraordinaire!!!&#

Color dorado oscuro, algo anaranjado y cobrizo.

Bottle 0.33L, labeled 2015. Dark brown body with an average, frothy, tan head, mostly diminishing with some nice lacing, though. Moderate-to-heavy malty (caramel, toasted) aroma with notes of red (cherries liqueur) and dark (prunes) fruits, spices, coffee, licorice and some raisins. Moderate-to-heavy sweet and moderate bitter flavour; long-lasting sweet finish with light bitter notes. Full body with creamy texture; soft carbonation: light alcoholic warming in the finish.
