4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
2010 Bottle. A dark brown to black with big tan Head that is lasting. Aroma is dark dried fruits (raisins, dates, prunes) a whiff of sea salt, big oak character, a syrupy sweetness like a dark fruit jam or something. Flavor follows with a fairly full mouthfeel and flavors of fruit, not quite sticky but syrupy certainly. If I poured it over vanilla ice cream I imagine it would be a phenomenal experience. Flavors add spiciness, peppery, but around that chocolate blackberry or plum first noticed in the nose. Belgian yeast and candy sugars come in a dark molasses kind of way. The kind of beer I’d want to drink off the beach in Nantucket on a cooler August night. Always has been one my true beer loves for many years. This beer so dark and delicate is a dessert on its own and maybe tomorrow’s breakfast shall be another.

33 cl bottle from Systembolaget. Dark, dark amber with a medium offwhite head. Aroma of belgian yeast, caramel, dried fruits and alcohol. Taste reflects the aroma, but here I feel the spices and it give me a perfume-like feeling. Medium bodied. Low bitterness. And medium carbonation.

Dark mahogny, brown/red beer with a tiny beige-brown head. No lacing stays on the glass.
Nose: Nuts, roasted malt, coffee, brownie, caramel malt, prune, raisin, cola and candied sugar.
The nose grows as the beer heats up.
Taste: Sweet caramel, licorice, espresso, roasted malt, maple syrup, raisin, orange, brown sugar and molasses.
Mouth: Full body. Complex texture. Medium carbonation with tiny bubbles. Sweet ending with a light, dry tone.
Oh! This is so good!
I’m looking forward to cellar this and try a bottle in a few years from now :)

There are beer and wonders. The first time I tried pannepot, years ago I discovered that there was life beyond the Trappist. Pannepot The only problem is that there are issues that are not wonderful, just wonderful!

Pours cola like dark brown colour with a small beige head gives no lacing but lasts long. There are toffee, raisin, licorice and spicy Belgian yeast aroma on nose. Taste is brown sugar sweetness and spicy upfront. After that, a light tartness reminds me of raisin. The finishing is slightly roasted malt and nuttiness along with hint of alcohol. This Belgian ale is complex yet perfectly balanced featuring a solid structure.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours dark brown almost black with a frothy tan foam that quickly disappears. Chocolate, spice, plenty of alcohol... not as good as I was hoping given the great reviews.

Huge thanks to lern for sharing this. Deep brown. Opaque., tan moderate head. Average retention. Modest lacing. Rich malty aroma of candy, prune, brandy, belgian yeast. Medium to full body. Cratmy mouthfeel. Rich malty flavour with notes of brandy, prunes, some roast, light bitterness. Excellent balance. A classic of highest quality without its unique point nevertheless.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
