Sampled @ Haand 2013. Rather clear reddish orange body with a tan head. Aroma has malt, some caramel, dry fruit, yeast and warming alcohol. Flavor is sweet malt, candy sugar, dry fruit, balanced bitterness, pepper and warming alcohol. Fine body and a good aftertaste. A solid brew.

Copper clear, white head. Smells of fruity esters, oak, rye, dark malts, some dark fruits and hints of hops. Heavy sweet, super malty, port influence, nice dark fruits again. Super oily texture, super smooth mouthfeel. A fantastic beer; one of the best from Haand Festival this year.

Draft at The Old School. Pours cloudy brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of fruits, caramel, toffee, vanilla, alcohol and malt. Flavor is over moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Full bodied with light carbonation.

Sample at ’het Schooltje’ Oostvleteren. I always imagine that the quality of the beer deteriorates a little because it’s kept for a longer time in the ’tap trailer’. Though amazing idea!
Rio Reserva ’Rogge’ edition.
Appearance: clear blonde beer, nice head, but unstable.
Nose: very fruity, flowery, hops, some alcohol, some grains.
Taste: fruity aroma, alcoholic finish, clear hops, subtle bitterness, alcoholic hints, little like a cognac, very sweet in total.
I had the Rio Reserva 75cl bottles, original edition. In my mind it tasted a lot better. I hope to taste the real thing again soon.

Lightly hazed golden with a thin white head that clears to the edge.
Nose carries dark fruit notes, sugars, wood.
Taste comprises sweet sugars, caramel, soft bread dough, jam donuts, orange peel, caramelised sugars.
Medium bodied with bite, soft carbonation, dry in the finish.
Good tackle.

i found this to be quite like the rio reserva. only dioffrence i get is that it smells less sweet ( yet it tastes quite alike)

Clear amber beer, no head. Aroma: very sweet, caramel, fruity, sugary hint. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: sweet start, some caramel, fruity, bit alcoholic, vanilla touch, sugary, soft hoppy bitterness, yoghurt. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, fruity, gum balls, peach candy.

Couleur orangée/cuivrée, col beige.
Arôme présente un léger bouquet de barrique de bourbon, le tout garde un côté pomme-brandy avec un malt cara complétant le tout.
Palais tant déjà pas mal coriace niveau alcool l’ajout de seigle ne donne ici que très peu de changement à la version d’origine. Retrouve une fine pointe d’épaisseur de bouche sans pour cela avoir le côté parfois épicé du seigle. Dans le style quad, je retrouve surtout ce côté sucre candi et une levure belge le tout bénéficiant des notes de bourbon qui met à l’ombre le côté fruité mais donne néanmoins une pointe de boisé et de douceur vanillée.
