Can’t say anything else than that the Struise is a brilliant Brewer with a sweet caramel/port like aftertaste as it’s signature. The Rye Reserva is a wonderful Quadrupel.

Taken from notes, on draft at ’t Schooltje during a students meet brewers experience exchange. Great memories. Pours dark amber with a nice firm beige head. Rich malty nose, stewed dark stone fruits (prunes, dates, figs). Rich full body, high on sweetness but ever silky as Always with Struise. Flavours are peach, dates, caramel and roasted malts. Nice!

Draft at the Old School - Oostvleteren, Belgium. Pours clearish gold with a light, white foam head. Mellow aroma, light yeast, bread. Medium sweet with some dry bread, ripe fruits. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish with notes of gooey honey, alcohol, bread. Very tasty. Quite well balanced.

Bottle@ home from beergusto. Colore ramato carico, quasi marrone con riflessi rubino. Schiuma beige fine abbastanza persistente.

Bourbon Barrel aged 2012. Dark amber brown color, with a brown head, some yeast flakes. Nose: caramel, dark sweet malts, wood&vanilla, strong alcoholic perfume, fruity touch, rich, complex nose. Taste: caramel, malts, sugar, alcohol, nuts, banana, heavy but still, balanced. Finish: full body, smokey touch in the finish, sweet. something peppery, spicy all in the back. very round, perfect carbonation for this beer. alcohol is providing some punch, also a very warming effect. This is a great beer. Food&drinks together. Good BA finish!

330ml bottle - thanks Chris
Initially apple esters, later banana, even later marzipan aroma. Lovely smooth palate, sweet and soft. Lots of banana in the mouth. Heady retronasals, packed full of esters, but not saying 10%. Very rich malty body, does have hints of ryebread, in particular in the finish. Very nice sipper, but perhaps a bit heavy.

Bottled. Pours hazy deep amber with small beige head. Aroma of caramel, spice, overripe fruits, dark fruit, bread and notes of bourbon. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry and bitter. Full bodied, oily to syrupy texture and soft carb. An excellent Quad.
