This ale was brewed back in 2008, and in collaboration with brew master Ryohei Sugawa San from Rio Brewing & Co. Our goal was to brew a Belgian dark golden blond quadrupel with an enormous potential of aromas and flavors, and added complexity due to oak barrel aging. Bourbon barels from Kentucky were chosen due to their very special soft roast quality and noble vanilla flavors. Year upon year, different quality controls were executed, and we finally decided to bottle condition this very special ale in May 2012. Another three moths of cold maturing was done at the brewery, so we could be sure about the absolute quality before releasing to our customers.

"What a deliciously complex quad this turned out to be. VERY well balanced between the base beer (prototype dark fruit, bread and spice belgian quad) sweet woodsie bourbon, and red wine. Delicious and smooth!! Don’t know how much this one cost, and probably don;t want to :)"

750ml Bottle shared between 6 at the Midland meet on 24th Aug 2014. Lovely, lovely beer, reminded me of Orange Liqueur in the nose. Poured an orange hue of light brown with a small head. The nose boozy, obviously orangey and sweet. The taste was more caramel and golden syrup than Orange Liqueur, but some orange hints were certainly there in the beers flavours. Rich and most enjoyable, cheers Richie for bringing it.

75cl bottle @ Midlands Beer Tasting, Aug 14 at Richie’s Hop Palace. Pours hazy orange with a thin head and big boozy Cointreau aroma. Taste is hugely complex, constantly evolving with sweet bourbon & vanilla mixing with dark fruits, malts, thick caramel & strong quad flavours. Without doubt the beer of the night for me and I definitely need a full bottle of this in my life. Incredible.

Bottle @ home, thanks to Armin for sharing ! Pours a pretty clear, rust orange appearance with a light brown head. A fair amount of oak in the nose that almost comes off as dry macaroni strangely enough. Lots of orange citrus. Herbal, grassy, woody notes in the nose as well. Medium bodied. Fairly high carbonation. Pretty tannic with tons of fresh oak. Fairly high sweetness. Low bitterness. Slightly prevalent alcohol. Twangy orange candy after taste. Fun to try but fuck you Struise on the price.
