This ale was brewed back in 2008, and in collaboration with brew master Ryohei Sugawa San from Rio Brewing & Co. Our goal was to brew a Belgian dark golden blond quadrupel with an enormous potential of aromas and flavors, and added complexity due to oak barrel aging. Bourbon barels from Kentucky were chosen due to their very special soft roast quality and noble vanilla flavors. Year upon year, different quality controls were executed, and we finally decided to bottle condition this very special ale in May 2012. Another three moths of cold maturing was done at the brewery, so we could be sure about the absolute quality before releasing to our customers.

This is a interesting beer brewed by De Struise Brouwers back in 2011, in collaboration with brew master Ryohei Sugawara San from RIO BREWING & CO (Japan). First aging for one year in Saint Emillion Tour Baladoz wine oak barrels. After that on bourbon barrels from Kentucky. Finally Struise bottled contition this ale in august 2014. _____________________________ A little bit hazy, mahogny colored beer with a small, yellow-white head that dissapears fast. No lacing on the glass. Nose: Raisin, plum, citrus, tart, brown sugar, fudge, coffee, honey, vanilla, bourbon and caramel malt. Taste: Oh! This is soo good! Very complex! Sweet caramel malt, bourbon, plum, molasses, dried fruit, raisin, vanilla, oak barrels, mandarin and dark syrup. Body: Full, complex body with crisp and yet soft carbonation. This is a masterpiece! I’m truly in love. I bought 5 bottles but now I just GOT to get hold of a couple more...

33cl bottle, Vintage 2011. Dark orange with a small head that lingers. Aroma is quite fruity: figs and plums, vanilla and perhaps some Bourbon. Taste is very complex and full bodied with medium carbontation and light bitterness, light to medium sweetness. Some booze in the finish that is not strong nrough to be unpleasent. Excellent Beer

Quite an awesome quad. Feels light and refreshing but keeping lovely complexity of malty profile, toffee, figs, dried fruits, ripe fruits, berries, yeast, vanilla, wood. Mostly sweet with light hint of sour. Very enjoyable

Bottle. Orangy.. light brown hazy. Oaky, flanders red notes, malty, light straw, ripe fruity, bit dried apricots fruity nose. Quite a sweet dried sugary feel to it. Full bodied, soft, very smooth, rich texture. Lots of sweets, teeth almost sticking together, but enough bitters/acids to wipe the finish clean. Med long finish with, again, dried apricots and other stone fruits. Wouldn’t say its a quad though. A fruity sweet-malt- heavy flanderish thing more of.

Bottle at home (brewed 2011, bottled August 2014, 10.5% alc vol., Lot n: 0602201130092014). Pours a clear reddish golden amber with a small beige head. Sweet aroma of caramel, malts, bourbon, alcohol, dark fruits and vanilla. Taste is sweet malty, bourbon, sweet dark fruits, caramel, vanilla, hint of yeast. Sweet malty bourbon aftertaste with warming alcohol. Bit sharp in the alcohol still, perhaps even better with time. But very nice and well balanced.

Tasted on 12/1/12 from a bottle. Pours hazy bright orange with a thin white lace head that slowly disappears. The nose is sweet caramel malt and a nice Belgian yeast note with clover honey. The flavor is the same with candied orange peel and a decent bit of bitterness. The body is full with syrup, light carbonation, and a long honeyed, caramel, and lightly bitter finish.
