COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale was brewed back in 2008, and in collaboration with brew master Ryohei Sugawa San from Rio Brewing & Co. Our goal was to brew a Belgian dark golden blond quadrupel with an enormous potential of aromas and flavors, and added complexity due to oak barrel aging. Bourbon barels from Kentucky were chosen due to their very special soft roast quality and noble vanilla flavors. Year upon year, different quality controls were executed, and we finally decided to bottle condition this very special ale in May 2012. Another three moths of cold maturing was done at the brewery, so we could be sure about the absolute quality before releasing to our customers.

Bottle, brewed 2011, bottled 2014. 10.5%. Slow gusher. Murky copper, thick offwhite head. Malty, dried fruit aroma, raisins and red apples. Flavour has strong fruityness, booze and dark sugar with good caramel backing and woody notes. Creamy mouthfeel with warming alcohol and good bitter bite. Booze, bitterness and dark, sweet fruityness well combined, very well balanced. Solid quad, good stuff.

330mL bottle from Beer Cartel. 2011 vintage ? Pours a hazy dirty copper body, holds a small dense beige head. Aroma is complex - not what I expected at all! Sultana, bruised apple, brown sugar, old toasty oak, stewed fruits, cinnamon and clove and nutmeg, aged Riesling!? Really different The texture of this is tremendous - thick, velvety, sweet yet slightly tart and tannic, and bitter. There’s something a bit wild, and funky, and untamed about this - sweet brown sugars, vanilla oak, lots of spice, lots of candied apple and dried fruits. Long finish, bit of dank, cellar, nutty, almost rancio character. Very very nice - a serious surprise, of the best sort!

(Bottle, 0.33 l - vintage 2011 - BB 30/10/2019, at Stadin Panimobaari, 20150821) The beer poured amber and hazy. Its head was small and white. Aroma had malts, yeast, wood and malts. Palate was full bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, wood, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was boozy, malty and bitter. Initially the brew was very good but towards the end the booziness began pushing through too heavily.

Deep sunset red amber with small golden head that quickly recedes, leaving an oily surface. Complex aromas, including a light green apple tartness, toffee, oak, bourbon. The taste is even more layered and complex - white wine vinous notes, sweet caramel, apple, peach, oak tannin, boozy and warming bourbon. Velvet smooth, full bodied, oily, low carbonation, just enough bitterness and dryness to cut through the sweetness. Another absolute winner from De Struise.

Doft av bourbon mörka sötafrukter o vanilj. Underbar smak av dito och otroligt välbalanserad. Mycket trevlig öl.
