3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Had a couple pulls from bsuedekum’s pour at Local Option- thanks again, Blake! Pours a hazed toffee color with virtually no head, just a trace of a ring. Lots of fruity, nectary notes, caramel, oak, mellow bourbon, figs, and dates. Not big bourbon barrel character. Much more fruitiness from the Belgian quad base. Medium-full-bodied, with a vinous, chewy mouthfeel and low carbonation. Not bad but I had higher hopes for a bourbon barrel quad from this brewery.

Vinous, alcohol aroma, mazipan, caramel, almonds, something sweet fruity in it.
Caramelcolour, hazy. Small, yet lacing head.
Huge taste. Very rich. Caramel, almonds, marzipan, roasted, getting more bitter every sip.
Sticky in the mouth, full bodied, alcoholwarmth. Short finish of alcohol and roast bitter.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught Orange-copper beer with a small off-white head. Old wine, madeirisated, spirits as brandy or Bourbon (if relatively little vanilla), bit smoked too. Sweet, alcoholic, spirit (combined with food, turns out utterly boozy). dried apricot (apricot brandy?)? Slick, alcoholwarming, fruitsyrup or -concentrate feel. Just a tad too syrupy, IMHO to be truly great.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
This big bruising 75cl beast is courtesy of the every generous sebletitje, thanks Sebastian. The bottle pours semi opaque copper with thin gold edges and short lived light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sherry, cherry, date and prune fruity sweetness with slivers of caramel candy here and there. At the end of the draw is a barrel aging and booze sensation. The taste is rich and sweet with nectar like sweet malts, ripe cherries, prunes and brown sugar coated dates. Ah, a yummy rich sweet sipper that picks up a bit of sweet kettle caramelization amid the sweet cherry and plum juice and only hints of the fairly large ABV. Darn good quad.
