COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale was brewed back in 2008, and in collaboration with brew master Rychei Sugawa San from Rio Brewing & Co. Our goal was to brew a Belgian dark golden blond quadrupel with an enormous potential of aromas and flavors, and added complexity due to oak barrel aging. Bourbon barels from Kentucky were chosen due to their very special soft roast quality and noble vanilla flavors. Year upon year, different quality controls were executed, and we finally decided to bottle condition this very special ale in May 2012. Another three moths of cold maturing was done at the brewery, so we could be sure about the absolute quality before releasing to our customers.

On tap at Stone. Clear dark golden with almost no head. Really nice floral bourbon caramel and vanilla aroma. Thick silky creamy palate. Tastes of caramel, bourbon candy, orange, vanilla, and dry oak with a sticky sweet bourbon finish. Outstanding.

(on tap CBC) First beer on saturday; what a super blend of horse sweat, dirt, cherry kenel, some cidernotes and black berry leaves. Nice bronze color, small white head. Citric, woody and rustic finish, lingers for ions.

12-MAY-2012, draft @CBC, 2008 vintage. Clear orange with tan head. Aroma is Grand Marnier like with orange peel and alcohol. Taste is fruity malty, with caramel and cane sugar. Bourbon is there. Very full. Fantastic beer again from de Struise:-)

Pours orange with a nice white foam. Wild reductive notes then subtle flowers, honey, malt extract, bretty notes appear with a great oaky/whisky contribution to the beer. Huge brew.

Shared a 750 of this at a recent tasting. Purchased about six months ago. Pours a copper color with little to no head. Smells boozy and sweet with some caramel and toffee also on the nose. Tastes like a dream, so much going on here with the barrels, the vanilla and has an easy mouthfeel and finish. Want more.

Fad: Orange klar øl med et fint skumhoved. Duften er fantastisk, masser af frugt og eg. Smagen er let syrlig med en god del eg, nærmest bourbon siger mine noter, hvilket det så også er. Lige som en øl skal være. Fantastisk.

Bottle at Birch and Barley; huge thanks to Brett, Erik, Greg, and the whole staff for an awesome evening!! Pours definitely lighter for a quadrupel, sort of an orange almond color, with a decent white head. Nose and flavor are really magnificent, and so outrageously balanced; beautiful combination of nectar fruit and dark fruit, with big apricot, plum, and raisin character. Both barrel treatments come through subtly but stunningly, with touches of vinous tannin and vanilla sweetness. Not even remotely hot; the mouthfeel is absolutely divine. A lovely lovely lovely brew from Urbain.

Tap at the Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. One of the top beers of the festival. Pours a clear, caramel gold with a fluffy, white head. Big ripe, caramelized fruits in the nose, with notes of overripe citrus and hints of whiskey. Big and sweet flavor with lots of honey, ripe berries, caramel, light warming alcohol, some wood. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Decent warmth in the finish, with some sticky sugar and jammy berries. Great balance. Wonderful complexity. The barrel treatment is spot on. This is how you do it.

Capped 750 from Bine & Vine. Pours deep orange/copper with a 4 finger creamy beige head. Aroma of medium dark fruits and medium dark malt. Amazing. Maybe a hint of orange. Full bodied. Extremely soft carbonation. Flavor is first bourbon/vanilla, then darkish fruit, then toffee, then a bit more toffee. It’s not bitter, and it is malty/sweet, but somehow it comes out like a non-sweet beer - and then the toffee comes out again. It changes from second to second. Really smooth. Extremely tasty. Just frickin brilliant.
