This ale was brewed back in 2008, and in collaboration with brew master Ryohei Sugawa San from Rio Brewing & Co. Our goal was to brew a Belgian dark golden blond quadrupel with an enormous potential of aromas and flavors, and added complexity due to oak barrel aging. Bourbon barels from Kentucky were chosen due to their very special soft roast quality and noble vanilla flavors. Year upon year, different quality controls were executed, and we finally decided to bottle condition this very special ale in May 2012. Another three moths of cold maturing was done at the brewery, so we could be sure about the absolute quality before releasing to our customers.

2008 vintage - Pours dark amber orange with a foamy head. Aroma of banana, malts, vanilla and wood. Taste is quite complex and has notes of toffee, oak, banana, caramely malts, syrup, spices and berries. Finish is slightly sweet with notes of toffee, oak and vanilla. Nice, tasty and complex, the bourbon notes give it a nice touch.

Troebel bruin, veel kraag bij het inschenken. Aroma is moutig, whiskey, romig.

Pours deep orange/copper with a 4 finger creamy beige head. Aroma of medium dark fruits and medium dark malt. Amazing. Maybe a hint of orange. Full bodied. Extremely soft carbonation. Flavor is first bourbon/vanilla, then darkish fruit, then toffee, then a bit more toffee. It’s not bitter, and it is malty/sweet, but somehow it comes out like a non-sweet beer - and then the toffee comes out again. It changes from second to second. Really smooth. Extremely tasty. Just frickin brilliant.

Bottle. Strength on the label was 10.5 not 11.0.Slightly cloudy brown with a massive presence of alcohol from the start. Nothing subtle about this one. Warm flavours dominate with a slightly smoked bourbon trace in background. One powerful beer.

Skromna kremowa piana, dość szybko opadająca do obrączki.

Bottle bought in Prik & Tik Schaliënhuis Temse. Pours hazy brown with a red glow and a big dark white/beige head. Medium carbonation. Nose: a bit of a brett nose, vanilla, funky, butterscotch cookies, wood, bourbon. Taste: Starts sweet with a funky touch followed by notes of bourbon, vanilla, wine, butterscotch plus a alcoholic warm feeling. Long aftertaste with notes of roast and a harsh whiskey feeling and a alcoholic warmth.
