Hazy orangy red, at first fizzy head, settles to soemthing lighter and more persistent. Sweet malty aroma. Sweet malty taste, slightly nutty bitterness, quite crisp peppery hops and some spicyness from the yeast. Some sourness there too. Kind of like a sweet weak blond, a bit gutless for a Belgian ale. (Had twice, a year apart, came to same conclusion both times.) Horribly over-rated. drewbeerme (2272), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Murkily opaque with creamy white collar. Banana-hued esters on the snout, with ginger and a sprinkle of clove. Smells like a big fruity Bavarian. Flavour earthier, with apple peel, smoky malt, caramel, a peppering of spice. Dustily fruity, malty, slightly tart, and finally dry. Misled by the nose. Nothing special. (re-rate, as ’Cuvee Mon Bijou’). As usual with Struise, 70% of the bottle spurted all over the worktop. Good riddance. What was left was undrinkable. Varnish, sickbowl and pondwater.Appalling. Yeasty aroma with some faint notes of sour apple, almonds, spices, metal. Flavor has some tart fruits that melt into mildly bitter hops, with a dry, bitter finish and aftertaste. Spicy hops and lively carbonation. Lots of character and good balance. Enjoyed it.
