TheCheeseMan (538), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Jun 20, 2007 Pours a cloudy, hazy amber tone. Very apparent sweetness on the nose, but at the same time is a bit exotic and inviting. Flavor is slightly sweet, not what I expected at all. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA Jun 15, 2007 Raw cherry wood tints peek out from a cloudy, murky, dark amber body. Off-white head, moderate retention. Spicy yeast and caramel dominate an aroma that also includes dusty sugars, dates, raisins, tart citrus, brown sugar and molasses. Odd. Flavor adds notes of flowers, lavender and other perfumes, honey and melon. Taste is moderately sweet. Finish is sweet then shifts quickly to dry. The mouthfeel is very nice with plenty of carbonation, but still silky smooth. Decent. oberabcbbsok (686), Hoboken, Belgium Jun 4, 2007 Draft, a very nice and rather low alcohol beer. But still with a large taste. I love the struise beers MPA (478), Nørrebro(formerly Aalborg), Denmark May 27, 2007 Bottle. Quite hazy amber with an off white/beige head. Yeast, spicyness, sugar and a touch of citrus in aroma. Sweet flavour with caramel and some spices. I can’t really get a lot from this beer, but even still it’s quite enjoyable. OleR (2007), Oslo, Norway May 24, 2007 330 ml bottle. Thin tanned head over a cloudy light brown body. Pleasant sweet citric nose, oranges and tangerines. Also scents of caramel and mild spices. Moderately sweet and mellow taste of fruit, berries and malts. Hints of wheat, cinnamon, coriander and yeast. Mouthfeel is both fresh and creamy. Good body. Dry, slight acidic and spicy finish. elektronikfagteknikerlærling (892), kbh, Denmark May 24, 2007 bottle. murky brown color. large head. yeast and sweetness in aroma. lots of carp. bitter yeasty. some malts. yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark May 20, 2007 33 cL bottle. Pours unfiltered/muddy brown with crispy wite head leaving a nice lacing. Aroma is yeasty, sweet caramel malt and berry fruity into a slight sour note. Classical belgian carbonation. Flavour is sweet caramel malt, berry sweet/sourness from the yeast and a slight bitterness into the finish from the hops. Otherwise is the finish more sweet than dry. Very pleasant, reminds me a lot about westvletern 6. CapedBrewsader (259), Brasschaat, Belgium May 8, 2007 Pours a ruddy ice tea color with slight orange (maybe even pinkish) highlight. Quickly faiding off white head made of large bubbles. Smell of spicy yeast and basement overpowers the caramel malt and cidery apple aroma. Almost smells of something faintly wild. Taste of caramel, yeast (my bottle may have been aggitated), cinnamon, cardomon, rose-hip, and some apple and summer fruits hiding in the back. A large floral component to the flavor. Rolls off the tongue quite nicely with a short but concentrated prick. I am a fan of De Struise Brouwers but was a little dissapointed in this beer. Perhaps my expectations were too high. I do however think this would be a good beer to serve friends wanting to learn more about beer. Interesting but not as intriguing as other De Struise beers.
