3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Koelschtrinker (6545) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - FEB 8, 2012
11/12/12/13/12/13
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (4558) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 10, 2012
In short: A copper Belgium ale that tastes like liquefied candies. Suprisingly easy to drink sweet 12% beer
How: Bottle 330ml. Consumed 1.5 year before expiration date
The look: Cloudy copper body topped by a medium beige head with medium retention
In long: Nose is sweet childish fun with bubblegum, jelly beans, spicy hard candies and such. Taste is a big semi-toasted slice of brown bread, plenty of brown sugar, candied apples, hard candies, spicy notes, scented flowers, bubblegum. Almost no alcohol presence whatsoever. Body is full and a bit fluffy but doesn’t fell thick or heavy despite the gravity of the beer. The beer is very sweet and there isn’t much hops presence, yet the beer doesn’t feel cloying at all and it is relatively easy to drink for a 12% monster. I got this beer from an internet beer store, the internet makes things so much easier, before it existed if I wanted to rate a beer online I would have had to invent the Internet.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 chicagodri (1605) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 6, 2012
Massive gusher. 2/3 of the bottle ended in my sink and on the kitchen floor. Sh*t. Pours hazy brown. Sweet aroma, flavor a bit musty and dry. Okay beer. Still pissed I only got a third of one.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leighton (3598) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 1, 2011
Bottle at RBESG 2011 Grand Tasting at The Dean Swift, London. Pours cloudy gold with a foamy head. Sweet malts, candi, brown sugar, faint yeast and spice in the aroma. Medium sweet flavor with a bit of leafy bitterness. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, some dough. Interesting stuff and pretty good.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 FatPhil (5970) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - SEP 28, 2011
Bottle (RBESG2011, Grand Tasting)
Gusher, and with sinky bits, not a good combination for a starting point. Aroma is honey and nectarine. Taste is dryer - walnutty, and a touch papery. Definitely feels old, but perhaps too old. Drinkable, but a bit messy. Covered the alcohol reasonably.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 maledictum (498) - Granada, SPAIN - SEP 20, 2011
Pours a murky, hazy yellowy colour. Quite fruity and hoppy aroma. Tastes is also quite hoppy in fact really quite hoppy, amazed at the strength, yes it is evident but I never would have guessed it at being 12%. Nice sweetness and bitterness throughout a most enjoyable beer.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 KyotoLefty (3480) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 10, 2011
Bottle at RBESG Grand Tasting, held at Dean Swift.
Cloudy gold-orange with lots of floaties. Great lemon-orange nose, biscuit pilsner malts, pears. Dry, nicely bitter flavor with tobacco, some very English hops, wonderful. Light, clean, and tasty.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 hellbilly (2857) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - JUL 30, 2011
bottle bb3/13 from nick. shared on 1/9/11.
cloudy amber brown color with a bunch of floating sea monkey yeast clumps.
it smells like a wet wood blanket that a skunk pooped on... wood, canned peaches, cotton candy, earth and lacquer.
really odd flavor as well... much like the aroma only added notes of honey, fruit punch, caramel and candies...wtf? it is sweet yet dry and crazy hoppy. this thing is all over the place and it’s creeping me out. 6/4/6/3/13
