The great innovators of Belgian beer culture, Struise Brouwers, created something completely different with this: a smoked oud bruin... I had serious doubts if this would work, but it proved a very interesting and well crafted beer. Off-white, coarse head, dark bronze colour with wine red hue; complex and strong aroma of dried fruits, wine vinegar, smoked bacon, oak, passion fruit, caramel, yoghurt. Dry fruity taste with drying tartness, spicy accents, smooth malt sweetishness evolving into a dry, smoked and woody finish.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Roscoe’s in Portland, OR. Colour...dark amber with a thin ecru head. Nose...lightly acetic and slightly funky, with smoky notes and generalised fruit. Palate...nicely balanced between tangy funk, fruit and smoke. The smoke shows more on the back palate and raisins and currants dominate the front. The finish is moderate in length and slightly soapy.

Tap at the brewery. Very well balanced and satisfying old flemish ale. Hope they will put it in bottles.
