Draught @ Haket. Pours deep reddish brown with a small beige head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sour and fruity with crispbread, caramel, cereal, lemon juice, lime juice, dark grapes, moist wood, moist soil and lemon peal. Taste is very tiny sweet, sour, slightly malty and tiny fruity. Mouthfeel is tiny round, slightly dry, tart and medium bodied. Finish is sour with caramel, cereal, lemon juice, lime juice, moist wood, moist hay, lightly smoked sausage, minerals and lemon zest. Light suiting smoke but this is mostly dominated by lime juice. Solid sour brown nonetheless with decent crispbread malts and citric acidity.

On tap. Pours a very dark brown with full head. Aromas of balsamic vinegar and dark cherries. Flavors of same with additional funky rubber green apples and tobacco notes. Interesting.

Draft at Oud Schoolke. Pours hazlenut brown. Nose is balsamico, vinegar, lactose, some malts. Taste is a bit better, more balsamico, sorry I hate Balsamico. Not my beer.

Black but not pitch black. 2 finger creamy head. Extra tart nose. Had an oud bruin nose. Cherries and a lot of peater smoked malt. Very smokey and burnt oak and birch wood.

The great innovators of Belgian beer culture, Struise Brouwers, created something completely different with this: a smoked oud bruin... I had serious doubts if this would work, but it proved a very interesting and well crafted beer. Off-white, coarse head, dark bronze colour with wine red hue; complex and strong aroma of dried fruits, wine vinegar, smoked bacon, oak, passion fruit, caramel, yoghurt. Dry fruity taste with drying tartness, spicy accents, smooth malt sweetishness evolving into a dry, smoked and woody finish.
