3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
(330ml bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Apr 17 2015) Pours murky dark brown with a small fine off white head. Brown sugar, toffee, yeasty, grape juice, prunes, some dark berries and spices. Touch of banana ester. Palate is initially very sweet caramel, grape juice, banana, a little spice. Finish is drier but not truly dry. Spicy yeast persists in the aftertaste. Medium body with fairly soft carb. Nice enough quad without anything that really makes it jump head and shoulders above the rest. Didn’t really get any bourbon barrel quality from it. Still a very solid beer.

En riktigt trevlig öl att sippa på framför brasan en kulen dag. Fantastiskt grumlig och rödbrun, lite som blodpuddingssmet. Fyllig och något söt - god!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
33cl bottle@home in Trappist glass@approx 8 degrees. Vintage 2013. Pours dark brown with small beige head which quickly resides. Good aroma of malt, prunes and dark fruit. Deep wintery taste - again dark fruit and a distinct sweetness. Notes of tobacco and liquorice complements the sweetness in a nicely balanced finish, which just lingers on and on. The alcohol is a little too present and it is a tad sweet for my taste, but certainly a first rate Belgian brew.
