3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 2010. Pours dark with a big, tanned head. Smell like burnt coffee, some ripe, dark fruits and pear. Flavour is quite bitter for a quad imo. Full, well balanced and has some sweetness in it. Fruity tones present as well. Good beer. Worthy of the name Oostvleteren 12.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the local option; pour is murky brown with a nice beige head that does retain fairly well in this glass. Light, spotty lacing is present here as well. The nose is plum skins, chocolate, but frankly feels a little muted. I have to be frank; not exactly impressed by this one for whatever reason. The flavor profile is more impressive than the nose, which was lacking for me. There is a bitterness out of the gate, a medicinal note, brown sugar, plums, bourbon, while the alcohol content is masked well. I enjoyed it but I had high expectations for this one, considering my love for many brews from struise, and my expectations weren’t met at all.?
