3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught at Struise School. Mahogany with creamy beige head. Nose and flavour of dark fruits, chocolate, caramel, oak and very yeastie. Smooth and bitter that leads to a rich malty finish. Delicious and yet delicate in all aspects. Very nice.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Pre ZBF 2010. Quite a fruity choccy quad. A little young maybe as esters still quite present. Pretty good quad though, smooth in mouth. Reminded me of a Rocheforst in the style. Will be great in 6-12 months when I hope to re-rate it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A Mes rate. Draught at Pre ZBF and then again at Struise School a few days afterwards.
Murky brown colour with a thin tan head, in all honesty, it’s not the most attractive looking Struise beer. Once it hits the other senses however it all comes much more together. Amazing oaky chocolate and preserve fruit. Big alcohol but in a really enjoyable way. Stunningly smooth though. The fruit and caramel intermingle so well, as do the spice and bitterness. Considerably better at the school once it had time to settle down a little. It just seemed a little too early at the festival. The scores are a combination of the two times I’ve tried it but I would thoroughly expect them to jump up a little once I’ve had a chance to try the bottled version.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft @ pre-ZBF March 5, 2010. Pours a deep, muddy brown. Initially topped with a huge beige head that settles to a 5mm cover. Sweet aroma, with notes of caramel malt, dark fruit, pear. and citrus. Flavor is fairly sweet, begins with some bicuity malt, complimented by toffee, dark fruit and some citric hops. Medium to full bodied. Not as exciting as the other beers Struise debuted at pre-ZBF, but still pretty solid. Very drinkable.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: DEC 21, 2010 Pilot batch on tap at the schoolhouse with Urbeer and Travlr. Poured a cloudy, muddy brown with a very lively tan head. Aroma of Bosc pears, spices, cinnamon oatmeal, rum raisin. Taste is raw oatmeal, maple candies, almost a doppelbock sweetness that is put in check by balancing hops and spices. I would very much like to try to finalized version. Excellent, silky palate. 11%+ is totally hidden. 3/15/2010 8/4/8/4/14=3.8
330mL courtesy of Travlr. Pours a deep, hazy brune with a massive tan head that leaves sticky, layered lacing. Aroma has gained a touch of Flemish sour funk, steak, red wine reduction, meat, caramel, wood. Taste is malt-forward, some dry cocoa, touch of lemon tartness. None of the Woodford Reserve bourbon comes through unfortunately. 12/19/2010 8/4/7/4/14=3.7

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Had this at Pre ZBF 5th March 2010 Pours brown though difficult to be exact on this because of the poor light in the area of the castle where we are currently, there is a light beige head. This is sweet, quite fruity, and sits quite heavy in the mouth at first, a touch of yeast and some tropical fruits start to show, as does the alcohol, I wonder whether this is a little young and needs more time to develop and soften those hard edges out a little. 4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From tap, Hazy looking orange-brown beer with creamy beige-yellow foam on top. Strange, but the foam was topping this beer in three different looking layers. Aroma is rich, sweet, malty and has hints of raisins and touches of a french dessert called babba au rum. The taste is almost silky, it has hints of caramel, milk chocolate, some fruits and lots of rich malts. it ends with a soft bitterness of hops and a nice long caramel like aftertaste.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Unclear deep amber with a medium beige head. Sweet aroma with overripe fruits, toasted malt, caramel and biscuits. Flavour was sweet with toasted malt, caramel, ripe fruits and hoppy notes. Alcohol nicely hidden but somewhat one dimensional.
