The nose is of christmas pudding, rum, raisins, spices, cherries. The taste is balanced sweetness with a lovely malty base. Some mulled wine flavors, more christmas spices, some pepper and dark fruits. Nice caramel flavors on the finish. The body’s full, the beer’s sticky, oily. A bit boozy. The carbonation nice and subtle. Overall, a really accomplished beer.

Vintage 2011 bottle from Biertempel. Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma’s of nuts, caramel, malt and that typical struise smell. Somewhat a lighter version of pannepot if you ask me. Drinks away nicely, love the Carlo monk face

Bottle @ home. Profumo fantastico di malto e di caffè tostato. profuma quasi come un tiramisù grazie alla bella commistione di caffè ed alcool.
Il colore è rosso pieno quasi ruggine con una schiuma color lana grezza, piuttosto fine e decisamente persistente. il gusto è rotondo, intenso, su tutto di caffè ma ha anche qualche nota torbata e la dolcezza alcolica cerca di venire a galla, ma viene schiacciata da una luppolatura in stile bitter inglese. Complessa, arriva a ricordare la salsedine come i migliori whisky scozzesi.

2010 bottle from Belgium in a box; dark brown pour with big beige head, deep malt an fruit cake aroma, Xmas pudding taste with big alcohol hits loads of dark fruits palette is a bit dusty but glorious a winner for me.

Sweet malty rich and smooth. Has a tang to it. Dark fruits like fig especially. Not much spice. Medium body. Red Orange color Nice to look at.

Draft at The Old School. Pours hazy brown with a tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, ripe dark fruits, raisins and chocolate. Flavor is over moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Very, very dark brown with ruby glitters color. No head nor lace. Excellent aromas to prunes, raisins, brown sugar, red fruits, nuts, Porto wine...and more, pretty complex but perfectly structured. The mouthfeel is quite solid, to sweet wine, dried prunes, liquorice, rhum, cane sugar and raisins. Medium carbonated, full bodied but not heavy, impressive palate. The overall is impeccable, almost perfect. As usual in De Struise beers, a huge, superb beer.

da questo momento in poi (cambio gettoni allo zbf 2013) comincia un vero e proprio delirio/declino..il birrificio struise diventa il mio principale punto di riferimento..e come potrebbe non esserlo??da quello che ricordo posso solo dire che su 4/5 birre assaggiate ognuna era un vero e proprio capolavoro..nel vero senso della parola..aromi impressionanti,complessi all’ennesima potenza..ogni sorso era un tripudio di sapori quasi impossibili da decifrare completamente ma che sicuramente meritano un altro assaggio..per la maggior parte ho assggiato birre scure,come questa..micidiale e il tutto servito alla spina insieme al GATTO LOPEZ :D zbf 2013

Bottle at Farmers Cabinet. 2011 vintage. Very nice chewy chocolate caramel raisins. Dark pour with a nice foamy head. Rich, full and succulent. Sweet dark fruits. Rotted sugared fruit. Much better than I anticipated it would be. Fantastic!
