330ml bottle from Malting Pot Brussels. Cloudy reddish amber brown, big foamy head. Yeasty toffee hop aroma. Toasted Turkish delight & toffee flavour. Smooth with sweet aftertaste. An unusual IPA.

33cl bottle. My first sampling of Struisse brewery amongst a general international IPA tasting. Pours definitely amber with a decent head and it’s pretty obvious (I think) that it’s been bottle conditioned. The nose is delicate and restrained - hints of earthy spice but a light fudge note comes through more predominantly. The taste also has the toffee and delicate spicy hops, possibly cumin on the finish, but as in the other examples of IPAs that include rye, it goes towards a bitter in biscuit flavours. The palate has a medium body a big crunch texture and a bitter but quite crunchy finish. Overall, very interesting and slightly unexpected.

Creamy off-white head and a dark brown hazy body. Gentle aroma of hops and a well balanced sweetness. Creamy body and a long bitter finish.

Bottle at home, from Bitter Virtue, 11/05/13. Hazed dark amber with a mahoosive frothy beige head. Nose carries metallic and mineral notes, bitter orange, light hops, caramel. Taste is caramel forward, malt, sugars, light tropical fruit notes, bitter grapefruit, orange. Medium bodied with fine carbonation, light bitterness in the finish. Drinkable stuff, caramel/malt forward IPA - don’t be expecting a hop bomb you will be disappointed!

33cl bottle. Pours a hazy light copper color with a large pillowy off white head. Aroma of light spice, yeast, bready malts, and citrus. Belgian yeast is definitely present. Tastes of bready malts, spices, Belgian yeast, green apple, and citrus.

330ml bottle poured into a tulip glass. Slightly hazy amber color with a huge rocky and super steady off white head. Clean light floral nose, with some spicy hops, bread and damp cloth. Sweet juicy malt, marmalade, some fruit, medium bitterness with a nice fruity hop flavor. Medium bodied, over carbonated but overall enjoyable.
