33cl bottle, BBE 05/2014. Poured mahogany with a foamy, huge beige head. Aroma is very hoppy, grapefruits and floral notes. Flavor is bitter at first, very citrus and tropical fruits before some rye notes comes along as well as a little sweetness. Smooth, oily mouthfeel. Wow, great blend of bitterness and sweetness. Have to try this again.

Some Belgian spice in an otherwise thick yet indeterminate aroma. Strange. Some light tinny hops at the end with a fairly thick strange body. I can’t say I’m a fan. It gets better but just not quite right to me. Maybe the rye?

Thanks Bobby Ray!!! Pour murky brown to grey with a ton of floaties and a huge beige head good lace. Aroma citrus, tropical fruits, yeasty/spicy, bready, earthy, caramel. Taste grassy, earthy, bitter, slight funk ,citrus fruits, caramel, bread. MF medium body fizzy carb. Overall interesting take on a IPA drinkable not outstanding a little out there but doesn’t all work well together.

Pours a hazy dark golden amber color that’s completely opaque with a two finger frothy head that very slowly fades into a lasting cap. Large chunks of soapy lacing left behind. Earthy, slightly funky aroma with a strong soil/dirt characteristic along with some pine and estery fruit notes. The hop profile in the nose is one dimensional unfortunately. In addition, there’s some dark fruit, faint malt and an odd medicinal presence. Medium bodied with an extremely earthy hop presence that’s very bitter and dry. The soil/dirt presence from the nose again dominates the flavor. Not much sweetness or much else balancing things out. Slightly medicinal with subtle malt sweetness with some rye and caramel but overall this is a very one-dimensional beer that I’m not really enjoying.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, orange-amber colour with a huge and dense tanned foamy head. Piney and resiny hoppy aroma with fruity notes of grapefruit and a spicy yeasty touch. Moderately bitter and slightly sweet flavour, medium bodied at most with a moderate carbonation. Dry and hoppy taste with a delicate cara-malty base, present notes of grapefruit; dry-ish and quite lasting piney and fruity hoppy finish. Nice one. 22.X.11

Bottle. Cloudy dark gold pour, with a large white head. Fruit, spicy belgian yeast, bready sweetness, grapefruit, and some bitter hops. A decent belgian IPA.

Bottle from the Struise Beer Shop in Brugges. It poured a very hazy amber liquid with an orange tint and a big fluffy head with a yellow tint. Lots of citrusy hops on the nose, apricots, oranges and lemon to be exact. Milder taste with a less hoppy focus, here the malt takes more room and makes good company with the citrusy hops. Mouthfeel is lean and smooth with a thick body and medium amount of carbonation. A nice version of the Monks Café beer.
