A very nice bourbon barrel beer. Pours a nice deep orange-red with a thick tan head. Smells like bourbon and cherries. Taste starts off very smooth and creamy, but ends very boozy with more bourbon. Maybe a little too intense of a finish. Had on tap at Beer Cafe in Walnut Creek.

Bottle at James’ place for A Clocking New Years! Pours a somewhat hazed amber gold with a thin to medium sized white head that deflates steadily. Big and malty on the nose, spicy malt. A hint of citrus. Medium-bodied, soft sweetness, a bit of citrus which I could be convinced was tangerine, but has some pineapple. Malty, a bit of oxidization, touches of citrus and caramel. Nose doesn’t come through into the rest of the beer.

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2014 On tap at Haand Festival. It pours an unclear, orange-golden body under a small, off-white head. It’s vinous on the nose, with sugar, fruityness, some peaches and alcohol. Quite sweet on the palate, full-bodied and pleasantly carbonated, slightly warming towards the end. The flavor has a nice bitterness, peaches and a generic fruityness and feels quite vinous. Warming, fruity finish. Maybe too sweet this one, or a tad too alcoholic, but I like the vinous touch. Nice. Rating: 7-3-7-4-15-3.6. 130525

On tap at Schouskjelleren, as Tangerine Heated Rear Evil Edition Barrel Aged. It pours a hazy, orange-golden body and a finger-thick off-white head. The aroma is boozy and vinous, with oak, oranges, some malts and a decent hop profile. It’s sweet and lighlty sourish on the palate, warming, full-bodied and with a nice carbonation level. Lasting bitter finish with oranges, oak and a vinous touch. A tad sweet this one, but sure pleasant. 140501

Pours copper, off white head (cask?) Smell is very big whisky. Malt and red fruit. Taste is like a watered down scotch or irish whisky. Red fruit Medium body, very big burn on the end. I am pretty sure this was aged in whisky barrels and not just oak. Nice

UPDATED: NOV 6, 2013 750ml bottle @Cimmeria. On tap @Struise, courtesy of Urbain. Liquor, fruity, liquorice aromas. Pours hazy golden with avergae white head, some lacing. Medium body, average to soft carbonation, oily texture. Taste is wood, liquor, liquorice, fruity. Quite enjoyable.

Bottle. Sampling at Lefty’s place. Yeast and subtle barrel notes. Copper-amber color, and a one-finger creamy head. Smooth rich barrel initial, with dark sugar and vanilla / sweet fruit gathers intensity throughout mid and final. Medium-heavy body, Very good, but the sweetness dominates a bit too much (for me). Not exactly cloying, but too much.

Poured amber. Soft belgian yeast. Mild bourbon smell. Honey spice, Jelly jam, delayed boozy burn is the only indicator of it being 10%. Very soft on the palate. The carbonation gives a great mouth feel. Light bourbon flavor allows all the other flavors to open up.
