3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Golden to amber brew with a large white head. Malty sweet brew with candy sugar and nice warmth from the high ABV. Spicey belgian yeast along with some vanilla from the barrels makes it all a lot more interesting. Still not that heavy on the bourbon notes as expected.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from bieresgourmet.be. Been looking forward to this one for some time now, and what better occasion to rate than Christmas could I have? :-) Pours a hazy nougat brown body with a big creamy light beige head. Mellow oaky caramel tones, floral heather hops, hints of wood, bread dough and Belgian yeast. I don’t get much barrel aroma, but it’s mellow and nice. Taste is sweet caramel and honey-sugar-like tones, wood and hints of bourbon, grains and dry straw notes. Short, dry finish with lingering oak and caramel aftertaste. Full body, medium to strong carbonation. Very pleasant, although I think some of the barrel aging is kinda lost on the fiery saison base. Nevertheless, a potent and pleasant brew.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle Vintage 2011:
Medium sized lively rough creamy colored head, which disappears right away and leaves a thin island lacing with some bubbles on the side on top of an almost clear orange amber colored beer.
Smell hair, barleys, syrup, raisin, some bourbon notes, some prunes, oak, spices, hay and a light sharp hay grainy touch.
Taste spices, raisin, creamy barley malts, some yeast, wood, bitter, syrup, creamy peach and tangerine, hint of autumnal hebs, some plant/hop bitters but also some malty bitters which tend to end a little dry.
Aftertaste is a mix of spices, bitter, malty bitter, pils malts, close to nasty bitter...
Low to medium carbo, soft foamy lightly blown mouthfeel, medium to fuller body and a thick creamy texture.
I get just a tiny teeny bit of Bourbon. Really so few that this must be Barrel Aged for a short period of time, a true pity! Wasn’t impressed. It’s not bad, but it’s not better than the original.
