3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Clear copper color, medium lasting off-white head. Aroma has spices, appelmoes, spicy yeast esters. Hint of barrel aging, gives a bit boozy note to it. Taste is dryish, caramel malts, bit spicy. Might expect vanilla or biscuit from the bourbon, but thats hardly present. Ok.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(bottle, 33cl, vintage 2011) Hazy, amber colour with a mid-sized tanned foamy head. Mildly sugary (cara-)malty aroma with notes of fruit-punch and alcohol. Moderately sweet flavour, full bodied with a soft carbonation. Caramel-malty, mildly yeasty taste with berry-fruits and delicately notes of vanilla/bourbon-oak; sweet malty and lingering fruit-punchy finish with a well-masked alcohol and mildly spicy accents. Not as overspiced as the classic version. 18.I.13

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
330mL thanks to Travlr! Murky, glowing orange pour. Medium thick foam. Nose is Nestle Quick, malted milk balls, some brown sugar, candied orange peel, mild bourbon sweetness. Taste is malty, dense, thick, spice, muted alcohol. Easy to drink. Thick, silky palate reminds me more of Pannepot in density. I think saison is pretty ridiculous for the style here. Still, a well executed dessert beer with a decadent palate.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Slight gusher, but thanks to my superhero reflexes I managed not to spill anything. Hazy orange to brown with lots of yeast particles floating around in the glass. Medium to big off-white head. Smells sweetish, malty, deep and somehow some chocolate, but there isn’t a lot of smell. Beer is served at slightly below room temperature so that shouldn’t be a problem. Tastes definately sweet and malty. The bourbon doesn’t really come through, the only thing I notice is a slight wooden taste. It’s a subtle beer, even though it has 10% abv. Full body without being heavy or alcoholic, quite a lot of carbo, but it’s the soft kind of carbo that doesn’t bother the drinkability. It’s quite a good beer, but it doesn’t have any features that make it a great beer for me. One of the most subtle heavy beers I’ve ever had though, which is definately a quality.
