Magnifique travail sur cette bičre au rendu énorme en bouche ! Explosion de saveurs au palais, alcool présent mais bien dosé. Finale boisée, sur le fruit. Magnifique.

Bottle to snifter. Nose is full of candied sugar. Light stone fruit and dried fruit. Pour is a very hazy deep red. Taste is immediately sweet then shows off some spices. Pretty good but not getting much wood character. Good+ I guess

2013, 330ml bottle bought from Vanuxeem. After having tried this, I’m so irritated that I didn’t buy a whole damn crate! Unfortunately it was a serious gusher (wahey). for some inexplicable reason, I decided to make this the first beer I have opened in my living room in about 3 years. so it was inevitable that it would absolutely coat my carpet in what I assumed was about 3/4 of the contents. but fortunately I only lost about 50ml. but that 50ml made one hell of a mess. i was even more upset after my first sip. this stuff is bloody fantastic. aroma is caramel, booze toffee, molasses, yeast and spices. taste is superb. silky smooth, sticky caramel and toffee. finishes with a bit of smokiness/spice which i assume is from the oak barrels. it is just so smooth. next year I’ll be buying a crate.

Bottle 2013: Nose is cream, orange, vanilla, slight summer fruit, orange liquor,. Taste is cream, a little smoke, leading to caramel, a little burnt sugar, leading to bourbon notes, wood, oak with sweet vanilla, orange then cloves, spice and a little pepper in the finish. The taste really improves as the air gets to it, and really benefits from a good swill round the mouth. A very nice beer indeed, I think it’s not quite as good as the port barrel.

Erőtől duzzadó megjelenése bizalmat árasztó, olajos testtel hömpölyög a pohárba a marcipános, vajkaramellás előjelű, zöldalmás gyümölcsösség által kikönnyített fuvallatú főzet. Haraphatóan telt kortyokkal örvendeztet, a korábban kóstolt verziók által körberajzoltnál is összeszedettebb keretbe foglalt, a lehető legnagyobb mértékben kiugrásmentes, egyszerre fűszeres és desszertszerű, kellően markáns, férfias karakterű, a whiskey-s érlelés kölcsönözte jótékony keménységet és izgalmakat egyaránt magán viselő főzet. A karácsonyi italok legjavát nyújtja e sör.

33cl bottle shared in a tasting glass. Pours a slightly darker, cloudier version of the non barrel-aged Tsjeeses. Aroma is rich fruits, spices and honey notes all in perfect harmony. Mouthfeel is equal to the PBA version and (somewhat) more luxurious than the normal Tsjeeses. The taste however, is where the differences are worlds apart. I was worried that the bourbon would overpower the fruity, spicy, estery flavours for which Tsjeeses is known. I need not have worried - the result is magnificent. The barrel not only adds to the already complex flavours it tones down both the sweetness and the bitterness present in Tsjeeses and creates a harmonic balance that is truly World Class. Best Christmas beer yet.

Bottle from Bier Temple, Brussels. Smell and aroma is less distinctive comparing to "Struise Tsjeeses Reserva PBA (Port Barrel Aged)" but this has been one of my favorite Belgian Strong Ale. Amazing taste and you feel the alcohol taste less comparing to other standard Belgian Strong Ale! Loved it! Congrats Struise! Very well done! (The bottle I have doesn’t mention about Bourban Barrel Aging on it)

Two 330ml bottles as Tsjeeses Reserva and Tsjeeses Reserva BBA

2011 vintages. Regular version doesn’t have any mentioning of bourbon barreling and they have a different BBE and batch numbers - Pours dark brown with a smooth white head. Aroma of ripe fruits, toffee, syrup and caramel, with some spices, wood and oak. Taste is woody, ripe fruity and sweetish with loads of syrup, candi sugar, wood and oak. Finish is woody and sweetish with some toffee, syrup and caramel. They botht taste quite similar. BBA version is just slightly sweeter, but the difference is really subtle.
