Pours a hazy orange with little white head and almost no lacing. Aroma of spices, fruits like pears and maybe some peaches, a bit of oak, light vanilla. Taste is fruity just like the nose, with more spices, some oak, light vanilla, peppery. Medium to full body and medium carbonation. The barrel aging is a bit more present than the port version.

Refrigerated 11.2 oz. brown bottle which says Belgian X-Mas Ale brewed with Spices, poured into a trappist glass. Pours dark amber with small off-white head. Aroma is sweet oak, medium body, low carbonation, and thin small bubble lacing. Taste is candy sugar, oak, some spice, and some fruit. I enjoyed this way more than the regular tsjeeves.

Draught at Delirium Brussels. Orange, slightly cloudy, with lace. Fruity nose of orange, peach, grass. Sweet, estery flavor, orange, honey, wood, some vanilla. Very nice fruit, with great bitterness as well. Not a whole lot of bourbon.
Earlier Rating: 1/24/2012 Total Score: 3.9
Bottle at Delirium Reserve. Slightly funky nose, quite funky, actually. Dry, apple, pears, minerals. Deep amber color with orange, and a tall, fine head. Sweet honey flavor with caramel, stewed fruit, minerals, and a bit of ass funk. Hot alcohol too. A strange one—not as immediately likeable as the regular version. Very funky, dirty, plus quite sweet. Complex and spicy, and it grew on me. An interesting, good beer.

On tap at Sergio’s on 9/14/13. Opaque amber pour with a thick beige head. Aroma of oak, malt, light fruit and Belgian yeast esters. Malty flavor with hints of berry and oak before a sweet finish.

Bottle shared at CBC Islington during the Ryan Tasting - thanks to Ian for his drunken shenanigans and for bringing this beer along, too. Good and rich, lots of apples and toffee, some alcohol punch. Good, dynamic and according to my notes, for reasons not readily available, I found the beer "kinky". There you have it.
