Drank this brew a couple of times! Once on tap at the Waregem beerfest (08), and also at the Struise farm from a 75cl bottle. Both tastings had a hazy orange/apricot color. From the tap though, the head just exploded with a superb creamy head that settles into a thin layer. The bottled was a little more restrained than on tap. The aroma was absolutely stunning with hints of oak, refreshing butter, honey, vanilla, and loads of mango and apricot; alcohol was well hidden for 10%abv. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, great carbonation with no apparent alcohol. The taste had chewy fruit notes with a malty character along with a touch of vanilla and oak; what an amazing complex brew. You would never know that this was 10%; I had no trouble polishing off this beer. Gotta love this Tripel!! Another great brew from the crew at Struise.

15/11/2015 @home - 33cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte. Hazy amber with nice white head. Aroma is malty, vanilla, sweet. Taste : malts, dark fruits, vanilla, some wood, caramel, sweetness. I liked this one more than the PBA, it seemed more balanced to me.

Bottle at home, bought in Paris, 14th November 15. Pours with a little gush, murky dark yellow. Aroma dark fruit, vanilla, spice bourbon. Taste is prune, bourbon, sweet, caramel. Palate is fairly flat. This is a nice Belgian Strong but I preferred the Port Barrel version.

Nieduża kremowa piana, dość szybko opadająca do koronki. Barwa bursztynowa, lekko mętna, drobne bąbelki leniwie odrywają się od dna sniftera. Aromat słodki, waniliowy, likierowy, z całą masą kandyzowanych owoców, rodzynek i suszonych moreli. W smaku słodowe, choć zdecydowanie mniej słodkie niż zapowiadał zapach, pierwsze skrzypce grają estry - owoce kandyzowane i suszone, jasne dojrzałe winogrona, karmel. Goryczka głogowo pestkowo pikantna, nie wysoka, ale dość długa. Nagazowanie średnie, drobne, alkohol wyraźny, raczej przyjemny. Whisky i dębina w afterteasie. Lepkie, pełne, choć nie gęste, w odbiorze. Definitywnie jest to trunek trafiający w me gusta, bogaty, deserowy, rozgrzewający, dostarczający wielu sensorycznych doznań. Nuty beczkowe wyraźne w zapachu, mało intensywne w smaku.

butelka, kufle i kapsle.

Barrel and malty aroma is awesome. It looks in the glass great as well, deep golden color and nice delicate head. In taste it’s disappointment in my opinion. I was expecting massive explosion of flavours and barrel notes. There is a little bit of barrel ab front, but after this it’s rather empty for such a huge beer. A bit of wooden notes in the aftertaste, great pleasant mouth feel with great alcohol touch. Quite a big gushing while opening the bottle. In overall it’s still a great beer, but I was expecting so much more, especially after other beers from these brewery.

11.2oz bottle poured allowed to warm for a while then poured into a snifter. 2012 vintage. A: Foam rose up the neck upon uncapping and would certainly have overflowed the bottle if not quickly emptied into my glass. It poured a murky & cloudy chestnut brown color with a well-proportioned, off-white head that had good, but not excellent, retention. Some spotty lacing left behind. Aroma: Too much alcohol, but otherwise very nice, with a rich and complex mix of dark fruits and light spices and with a bready yeastiness. Flavor - similar to the smell, but with more hidden alcohol, light woody notes, and a less pronounced fruitiness. Some mild barrel aging evident in the aftertaste. Feel: Ample but soft (natural?) carbonation that’s well matched to the flavor profile and medium body. O: impressed by the balance and complexity, I’ll head back to get some more of this for Xmas gifts.

12oz bottle pours a hazy brown color without much head. Lots of malt and some bourbon spirit flavor. Spices are a little overpowering. Smooths out with some time to breathe.
