My mind was blown the first time I had the normal Tsjeeses a couple years ago and ever since I’ve been wanting to try the reserva. Finally it hits stores on the west coast. This 33cl bottle pours a hazy orange color with a medium white head and high carbonation. Surprisingly smokey aroma with a hint of orange marmalade as well. Sweet juicy fruit sticks out and a little malt as well, but the fruitiness is pretty overriding. Boozy and sweet with a tannic and dry finish. A little yeasty and rough in the finish. I feel like I’m completely missing this one for some reason.

330 ml bottle from Bhensonb. Nose is nutmeg, cardamom, oak, sweet fruit, and yeast. Murky copper with a small beige head. Flavor is slightly sweet with toffee and a slight bitter note.

(bottle, rating #2500) pours a clear ruby-amber colour with a frothy light beige head. aroma of bread dough, cherries, gooseberries and peppermint, with a hint of herbal hops, pepper, cashew nuts, some alcohol and lightly roasted wheat. flavour is mostly the same, roasted malts and bread dough are dominant, with notes of caramel, light raisins, salted pistachios, a touch of sweetness and a slightly tart semi-dry finish. medium to heavy-bodied with lively carbonation.

2011 12oz bottle scooped up for 3 dollars. Would have bought more if I’d known how well it held up. Unfiltered amber-brown-orange body, yeasty and thick. The oak really smooths the whole beer out, really helping it come together. This is pretty much in Barleywine territory, the spices are not dominant at all, mostly just a big, smooth malt river. Sweet and beastly, this is a solid Belgian beer all the way.

Bottle - 2011. Pours cloudy hazel with a small off-white head that dissipates quickly with good lacing. Aroma is grain, oak, caramel, toffee. Flavor is very spiced - cinnamon, nutmeg, clove. Wood notes are light. Light sweetness, some bitterness, mainly zesty in nature, and a touch of woody astringence. A bit of warming, but ABV generally well masked. Not bad, but overspiced and under barreled for my tastes.

Pours a clear golden color. The aroma is complex with green apple, cherry, a touch of smoked wood, and wheat bread. On the palate the wood aging seems to have generated a well rounded profile with some nice sweetness and the beautiful fruity astringency of a classic Belgian yeast. Wonderful! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2011 bottle. Pours a cloudy orangish amber body with a rather active carbonation level that produced a large off-white head. The nose is thickly malty with some heavy candi sugar sweetness, moderate alcohol, light spices, a touch of oak, and a hefty dose of yeastiness. The flavor is mostly sweet candi sugar and caramel with the spices very much in the background along with an underlying yeastiness. The oak is also very subtle, just barely noticeable on the finish. Pretty well hidden alcohol with the 10% ABV. Rather full bodied and almost chewy in texture with a bit of warmth on the finish. Pretty nice drinkable beer despite the heavy alcohol. Been a long time since I’ve had the regular version, but from what I remember this version has the edge.

A classic tasting Christmas Belgian ale. Although not to taste can appreciate the hops and spicy notes that would compliment rich food ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
