My mind was blown the first time I had the normal Tsjeeses a couple years ago and ever since I’ve been wanting to try the reserva. Finally it hits stores on the west coast. This 33cl bottle pours a hazy orange color with a medium white head and high carbonation. Surprisingly smokey aroma with a hint of orange marmalade as well. Sweet juicy fruit sticks out and a little malt as well, but the fruitiness is pretty overriding. Boozy and sweet with a tannic and dry finish. A little yeasty and rough in the finish. I feel like I’m completely missing this one for some reason.

Bottle 33cl bought at Dranken Geers in Oostakker. Pours hazy light brown with a medium beige head. Nose: cheesy, dried fruits, cookie dough, liqueur. Taste: soft stronger carbonation. Creamy texture, bourbon notes, chocolate, vanilla, stronger alcoholic warmth, dried fruits, roasted malts, cheesy, slightly bitter, even a little bit floral.

Bottle. Simply a very fine beer. De Struise don’t muck about. This highly refined, strong, spiced and slightly sweet with a celery flavour in the finish. Excellent balance of bitter and sweet.

Best before 12-12-2012.
