In short: smooth strong sweet ale.
Pours some hazy light copper with little off white head. Short head retention, some lacing. Malty, caramel, liquorice, liquor, toffee and ripe fruit aromas. Medium body, average carbonation, oily texture. Taste is smooth, liquor, caramel, fruity, some wood character. Alcohol noticed, but still pretty well balanced. Very enjoyable.

Body is mooi vol. De reserva pba vintage 2012

33 cl. bottle, Vintage 2013, poured in to a Trappist glass. Hazy, amber colour with a medium sized, off-white head. A good glow in this one. Sweet aroma with rich caramel malts, dark, dried fruits, rather vinous with overripe red grapes - the port barrel ageing really shows. Spicy and wooden notes. Mineral impressions from the carbonation. Light burn from alcohol. Taste is sweet. Full body with a creamy texture and a lively carbonation. Long lasting, sweet finish with lots of port barrel, overripe fruits and rich malts. An excellent beer. However, the barrel ageing is rather aggressive in this one. Something for the port lover.

Bottle. just like the BBA this is lovely, a touch sweeter than the BBA with again a hint of oak and a full bodied red wine taste. Toffee, nuts and spice and toasty malts, just perfect for Christmas.

Bottle. Bronze with virtually no head. Powerful and slightly spicy with a hint of wood and fruit. A hard hitting and proper Christmas ale. Very good but, amazingly they can do better.

amber thick frothy head which lasts. Aroma and taste are sweet but not cloying, mild spices and yeast, then a touch of red wine/musty grape flavor. very well balanced but overall a sweet after dinner sort of drink. Palate is soft and smooth like always (with Struise)
