Herbs, brown sugar, some chocolate, vanilla and some licorice. A very well balanced full flavoured brew. (not the best label btw..)

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
(Drinking date: 14 March 2014) It was a gusher unfortunately. Luckily I was fast enough to put almost all the beer in the glass. Aromas of chocolate/cacao, raisins and port. The beer is hazy, brown coloured. Very small layer of creamy foam. Good taste. Bit sweet (chocolate, alcohol) and bitter. There is also a bit of a strange taste in it, which I don?t really like. I don?t really know what that taste is. Bitter aftertaste. The carbonation is good, and the mouthfeel is also good. I expected it to be a bit more full. Overall, it is a good beer. I like the taste, but it is not my favourite. Total score: 3.8 (edit: when the beer warms up a bit, the mouthfeel became much better, more full. The taste was also more complex. A bit of apricot in the taste. Score changed to 3.9)

Bottle @home. Pours cloudy amber with white foam. Aroma is sweet, sugar, spices, port, alcoholic. Taste is little sweet, alcoholic, spices. Nice aftertaste too. Well balanced, interesting taste. Have to try the BBA again and the Tsjeeses to compare. Another great one from De Struise.
