3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
33cl bottle @ home [thanks to my colleague Sjors]. A bit unclear dark copper to amber color, medium to full sized, light to medium creamy, a bit soapy off-white head that lasts for a long time and leaves a fair lacing. Smell malts, overripe fruits, some vineous hints, raisin, some candi sugar. Taste malts, sweetish, caramel, a hint of hazelnut and raisins, some alcohol, maybe -but only slightly- port, some spicyness as well. After a while the barrel aging comes through a bit more. Medium to full body, medium to full carbonation. Reminds me more of a Abt/Quadrupel than an Abbey Tripel, but who cares. Nice beer, though not exceptional.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Medium yellow, dense & fine head over hazy orange-brown beer. Spicy, liquorice, marzipan, rosewater. Sweet nose, definitely. Alcohol, an enormous liquorice load, sweet; BIt fo caramel(syrup), but a lightly bitter spiciness gives a good counterweight. (Ripe) banana; Feels rather well-carbonated; slick and sticky, medium bodied at least. I donít get the Port; Whether that is good or bad remains an open question, as the beer is (too) sweet from itself already. Tsjeeses is definitely the kink in Struisesí armour, as far as Iím concerned.

Bottle from Etre Gourmet. Somewhat hazy amber/copper beer with a small offwhite head. Oaky vinous aroma, yeasty, chocolate, nutty, vanilla, fruity, grapes, pear, apples, bready, caramel, biscuits, spicy notes, a little sourish, toffee notes. Malty caramel aroma, yeasty, spicy, biscuits, banana, bready, hay, vinous, port, oak, apples, sourish, biscuits, a little roasted, toffee notes. Great when you can taste the original Tsjeeses and also feel the port adding things to the beer.
