3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ Appellation Comely Bank tasting thanks to allmyvinyl.
Appearance - amber brown with a decent head.
Nose - dried oranges, some light spice (cinammon and vanilla) but quite dry.
Taste - again not as generous as a recent tasting of the Bourbon barrel version. More dried orange peel and raisins. Not much of the dark fruit notes you’d hope to get from the Port barrel either. It seems to have dried it out.
Palate - medium bodied with a dry crunchy texture and a well balanced finish.
Overall - it’s a very nice beer, just disappointed compared to what I was expecting.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33 cl bottle as ˝Reserva PBA Vintage 2011” @ tiong, BBE 26-12-2017
Aroma has rather strong porto notes, sweet sweet malt and toffee. Flavour is very sweet with toasted sugar, porto, candid sugar, caramel and any other expressions teling about excessive sweetness. Also vanilla and licorice – and alcohol trying to balance the sweetness. But that is not enough.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JAN 2, 2015 33cl bottle served in a Struise glass. Pours a wonderful hazy orange colour with a slightly yellowish head which last throughout the drink with plenty of floating sediment. Aroma is very powerful with sweet fruits, malt and booze. Taste is much more rounded than normal Tsjeeses. The marmalade notes present in the standard Tsjeeses are gone and replaced with a more balanced level of sweetness/bitterness along with a slight barrel presence but unless I was told I probably wouldn’t have noticed it. In any event the barrel aging has not had a pronounced effect on the taste but has subdued the exiting flavours and added yet more complexity to an already complex brew.
