Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours orange amber with a thick beige head and a strong port aroma. There is a full-bodied caramel malt flavor with some candi sugar and a hint of port with a strange spice finish.

Arrière goût de liqueur. Très bon palais crémeux. Goût qui rapelle le porto avec une touche boisée. Bière lourde mais on ne goûte pas trop l’alcool. À boire calmement

33cl bottle in belgian chalice. Pours an abundant, fizzy and creamy off-white head; very nice amber to shiny ruby and slighlty unclear colour. Smells cane sugar, belgian yeast, very spicy, fruity, with very nice port hints an some pleasant alcohool too. Tastes dried fruits, toffee, wood/barrell, red fruits, very noticeable and nice port notes, especially in the aftertaste. Sweetness is around almost on a medium level, just there but not too agrressive; almost the same with the medium level bitterness, which slighlty prevails and cuts off nicely the sweetness. Llively but at the same time very sublte carbaontion, body is medium +, sticky texture, nice candied fruits and port aftertaste. Overall a great brew, solid and balanced, one those almost "easy" drinking considering the ABV. Very hard to decide whether the best is this Port Barrell edition or the Bourbon Barrell one :P

In short: smooth strong sweet ale.
Pours some hazy light copper with little off white head. Short head retention, some lacing. Malty, caramel, liquorice, liquor, toffee and ripe fruit aromas. Medium body, average carbonation, oily texture. Taste is smooth, liquor, caramel, fruity, some wood character. Alcohol noticed, but still pretty well balanced. Very enjoyable.
