Pours hazy amber. Nose is ripe fruit, banana, caramel, brown sugar, plum. Aroma is candied fruit, caramel, ripe apple, oak, vanilla. Very well balanced with subtle hints from the port barreling. Very goof indeed!! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tried this in líExpress de Lyon in Paris, 33 cl bottle in pint glass. Poured dark orange/brown and cloudy with white lingering head and nice lacing. Subtle port flavor, I have tried the BBA version and this one is cleaner, both are excellent. Hides the alcohol well, dried fruit (figs, prunes) flavors with strong malt. Nice aroma and flavor, this is a fairly sweet beer with many layers.

Cloudy brown - amber beer, big pale cream coloured head. Palate starts soft but quickly turns crispy. Mild minerals. Creamy malt. Sweet spices. Holding it together is a mild red wine fruitiness. Creamy malt is the dominant flavour here, but overall a rich and tasty beer.

Poured into a goblet. 2011 vintage, PBA. 3.0 A: Murky amber brown. Half a finger of frothy beige head. Retention is poor and just a hair sized ring of lacing is left. 4.0 S: While this isnít much to look at, the nose is quite nice. Sugary and fruity would be two good words to describe this. The residues of the candi sugar is potent, while the base gives lots of plum, fig, prunes, dates, tobacco, and raisin. Thereís also a big vinous grapiness, which can likely be attributed to the port barrel. Peppery spiciness from the yeast. Caramel, a bit of toastiness, and a hint of molasses. Borderline 4.5, very nice. 3.5 T: The taste is good, but it doesnít have the same vibrance found in the nose. You will find all the same flavors, but much less intensity. The fruitiness is especially reduced. Only plum and date comes through with any strength. The port becomes a bigger focus in the taste. Vinous grape, oak, and hints of vanilla. Mild peppery spice. Toastiness is enhanced, but caramel and molasses are almost lost. Basically, itís just a less impressive version of the nose. Booze is well hidden. 4.0 M: Lighter to lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation with a pleasant spritziness to it. No problems here, but a little more creaminess would make the mouthfeel even better. 4.0 D: A bit of a bonus here since the nose is so good. Overall, itís a decent beer and I enjoyed it. Bottle(thanx to ThirstyBird!): Light amber coloured, stable off-white foamy layer, sweet fruity-caramelly nose with a vinous touch, but not a typical "port" flavour; solid sweet flavour, full bodied;sweet caramelly and vinous-fruity finish. Way too sweet, not very well balancedÖ

Pours a hazy oange with thick white head and nice lacing. Aroma is fruity, some pears, peppery, yeasty. Taste has some yeast, light pears, pepper, very light oak, big malt presence. Medium to full body and medium carbonation. I wish i could taste more the barrel aging. Barely present. Still enjoyable.

[5/6/13] Bottle at my hostel room in Copenhagen. Thanks fonefan. Vintade 2011. Hazy amber with some floaties. Aroma of malt, alcohol, yeast, fruity esters, oak and vanilla. Sweet flavor, slightly tart, fruity, with malt, caramel, oak, a bit of vanilla hints and a spicy alcoholic finish. Medium to full-bodied.

Bottle, vintage 2011. Gushes, but not so fast i canít get it over my glass. No love lost.. :) Head is thick and creamy, slightly tanned. Aroma is candy-sugar, hints of alcohol and notes of vanilla and oak. Taste is rounded woody notes, sweet malts and candy sugar, hints of well hidden alcohol and mild fruityness. Mounthfeel is creamy.

Bottle, 33cl, Geers. Pours dark copper, doesnít look much like the regular Tsjeeses anymore. Small head, diminishes quickly. Aroma of ripe fruit, banana, candy & booze. Then port & liquorice over booze. Flavor is rather sweet, a bit sticky too. For a barrel aged beer, good carbonation. Technically itís a good brew, but the purpose & harmony is a bit lost imho.
