When you pour the beer down a lively amber hazy ale with white foamreveals in your glass. Caramel, malt, and light porto aroma on the nose. Medium sweet, kind of salty and nice bitter taste.

Bottle. 2013 vintage. Hazy amber-red with a large and compact off-white head. The aroma is malty with toasted and breadish characteristics, some caramel and toffee, vinous port notes, and spices. The flavour has notes of sweet malts, peach syrup, tannin-ish port flavors, clove, cinnamon, honey, cherries of a fairly tart variety, plums. Harmonious, elegant, delicious. I eagerly await flipping the tops of my older vintages at Christmas time.

Bottle from Au Grain D?Orge - Beautiful clear reddish amber color with a fleeting white head, no lacing - Aroma is spicy with a strong malt backbone, plum, apple, wooody, vinous with hints of alcohol - Flavor is spicy, malty, cane sugar or candy sugar - Full body, fizzy carbonation, medium bitternes, sweet & bitter, sweet bitter and cane sugar finish - an amazing beer, a powerful malt backbone well balanced with alcohol and spices, one more good beer from struise

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Murky reddish light brown, slight gusher out of the bottle, thick foamy head. Rich red fruits, raisins, some booze, banana esters on the nose. Slight hint of fortified wine. BIG. Creamy, chewy, rich, slightly boozy, warm bready malts and more of that red fruit thing. Ever so slightly vinous and juicy but I don’t think I would have identified port without already knowing it was there. Soft spicy bitter finish with a bit of alcohol warmth that dissipates further down the glass. Not bad at all, though I expected something a bit more special.

Bottle at L’Autre Oiel. Something special and unique. No aroma until very warm, and then light egg and yeast. Getting a cognac character similar to a 5 year aged strong beer. Maybe that will be more pronounced in a couple of years. Smooth.

330 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with full head. Aromas of tobacco, brown sugar and fruit. Flavors are similar with addition rye bread and grain notes. Interesting.

Aroma of malts, yeast, caramel, candy sugar, light fruits, light spices. Flavour is thick sweetness, yeasty. Carbonation is rather high. I liked the BBA just a little better, but this one is very nice as well.

0.33 bottle. Light brown color, extremely hazy and a big, off-white head. Nose. Composed of sugar, dark liqueur, a touch of wood, orange peel, alcohol, and fortified wine. Taste is also sweet: a lot of brown sugar and alcohol, some wine, dark fruits, and malts. Medium to full body, thick texture, and soft carbonation. Finish is medium long at best and basically follows the taste though it’s even more sugary. Overall the beer is marvellous

Bottle donated to me from Harrisoni following our trip to Belgium. Bit of a gusher out of the bottle, but quickly brought under control. Lovely rich hazy murky orange in the glass, slight off white big head which thins to just a white ring around the edges of the glass. Nose is orange rind, orange liqueur, caramel, barley sugar boiled sweets, green hops, sultanas, slight hint of the port barrel and some fortified wine. Very slight oxidised earthiness. Taste is blend of alcohol, orange rind, barley sugar sweets, an earthy Marmite oxidised earthiness. Sweet and salty, some slight red wine vinous, fortified vinous tanginess. Unusual strong, but warming and Christmassy.
