3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (3182) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - SEP 15, 2010
330 ml bottle from Wine and Cheese Place, shared at The Royale on their Tuesday night tripel event. This was in the discount rack because of the holiday-looking label. We were calling it "Jesus" so it looks like we were close on the pronunciation. Anyway, it pours a hazy, dull orange-brown color with a tiny off-white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, floral hops, spices, overripe fruits, and grainy malts. The flavor is pretty much the same, with fruits and spices leading the way, as well as some floral and herbal notes. Medium-bodied, with mild carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. I kept swishing it around, waiting for bigger notes to emerge, but I felt that overall this was murky in just about every way. Maybe that was just from Belgian tripel overload, but I couldn’t get as much out of this one as I wanted or expected.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Kavu (938) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - SEP 11, 2010
Pours hazy brown with solid stuff floating around. Aroma is spices, sweet malts and a note of alcohol. Flavor is sweet malts, spices and almost no alcohol at all, which is surprising in a beer this strong. Very nice.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hansen (4228) - Assentoft, DENMARK - SEP 10, 2010
Amber and unclear. Has a white head, lacing and lasting. Aroma is complex, lactic acid, fruity, malty, notes of spicy hops. Flavor starts moderate sweet and finish heavy bitter. Acid too. Notes of red fruits. Creamy, dry texture. A bit astringent. Lively carbonation.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 LearninBeer (293) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - AUG 29, 2010
The aroma is yeast, sweet, banana bubblegum. The color is a golden brown, the liquid hazy with floaties. The head off white creamy with excellent lacing. The taste is sweet and then sour. the body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation average, the finish abrupt. The bottle foamed out after I opened it, I don’t think this is a good representation.

Bottled. Hazy orange in color. Bubbly white head with lacings. The aroma is complx. Alcohol, fruits. I almost get a hint of ginger bread cookies. The flavor is sweet and you can "taste" alcohol. A lot of stuff in this one, nice!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rando7 (448) - Iowa, USA - AUG 24, 2010
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2011 Got an infected bottle in Denver, can’t remember which store. Debated whether to rate it but figured I would put this out there. If I find another bottle I will re-rate it.
Bottle pour to Trappist glass - color muddy amber brown with minimal off-white head. Sour aroma, taste no sweetness at all, just dull watery slightly bitter. Taste like a diet soda where all the NutraSweet has degraded. Finish dull, palate flat and watery.
Hope to find a better one, watch what you’re buying.
OK got one straight from Stuise and re-rated Bottle pours muddy golden brown with thin white head and some yeasty floaties. Aroma sour apples. taste light fruits, malts and YEAST. Finish a little hoppy with more yeast. Fairly smooth and carbonated palate. Alcohol disguised.
Categorized as a tripel but really seems like a cross between a tripel and Belgian ale with a lot of yeast thrown in. I’m glad I tried another one but probably won’t seek out again.
