3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 laiti (4016) - Tampere, FINLAND - FEB 23, 2013
33 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 07.03.2010
Aroma has caramel malt, some ripe fruits, apricot and toffee. Flavour is somewhat spicy with caramel, ripe fruits, some apricot, hints of alcohol and toffee. Also some peppery spices and earthy notes typical to saisons. A bit too spicy for my liking. Something between Belgian strong, saison and tripel.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 brystmar (517) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 16, 2013
Highly spiced, not smooth or integrated well enough with the malty base. Not worth the inflated price. Honestly, not even worth a non-inflated price.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 pilsnerrogge (2285) - Finspång, SWEDEN - FEB 2, 2013
Bottled: Pours a muddy brown colour with a thick head, Acidic aroma with notes of lemons, dates and brown sugar. The flavour is pretty much like the aroma. Long, dry finish.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 MoritzF (7835) - Bochum, GERMANY - JAN 31, 2013
(bottle, 33cl, vintage 2012) Almost cloudy, amber colour with a dense mid-sized and slightly tanned foamy head. Mildly yeasty cara-malty and slightly sugary aroma with an almost vinous berry-fruity touch, notes of almonds/marzipan, caramel, accompanied by spicy notes of cinnamon and ginger. Sweet flavour, quite full bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Solid, slightly sugary cara-malt character with a touch of berries/raisins and present spicy notes of mainly ginger and a tinge of cinnamon; moderately sweet, delicately tart and quite spicy finish with a well-integrated alcoholic strength. Good and quite complex brew, just a tad too spicy to be one of my personal faves. 18.I.13
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 keanex (830) - Atco, New Jersey, USA - JAN 30, 2013
Bottled in 2012.
Appearance: The body is murky with a brown color that I can’t say is too appealing, the head is thick and creamy, very clean, with great retention and lacing left on the glass.
Aroma: The aroma is weak with hints of straw, some lemon, and spices that I’m not able to discern.
Taste: The intro is maltier than the nose indicates with light spices, the malts get stronger as does a light spice with underlying citrus flavors. The finish is semi-dry and lingers for a moment of floral and lemon flavors with a slight warming sensation in the throat.
Palate: Medium bodied, full creamy texture, soft carbonation. Overall: Tsjeeses drinks nicely, fitting the cold winter night nicely. The spices are nicely balanced with the malts, but the finish doesn’t work for me, mostly the citrus notes. Good beer regardless, well worth trying.
