2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle @ Café Gollem. I must admit, I had high expectations after reading the ratings at ratebeer, but this one really disappointed me. It certainly didn’t live up to the hype. Pours hazy orange with a huge head, gushes out of the bottle. Smell is afwul, rotten vegetables and overripe fruit, very cloying. Made me say "Tsjeeses" allright, but not in a good way. Taste was also cloying, overripe fruit, melon, with a bit of a sour/acidic finish. There’s a lot going on in the flavours there, maybe I didn’t get it. Gets better when it warms up. Must admit, the mouthfeel is superb, really smooth and creamy. However, taste and smell were horrible imho.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Draught) Pours a hazy orange to amber colour. The aroma is sweet with tones of almond paste, (over) ripe fruits like banana, pears, yellow apples and kiwi. Bit spicy with tones of white pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and maybe a touch of coriander and clove alongside some herbal hops. The flavour is of malt, almond paste, fruits, spices and hops. Medium to heavily sweet with some light, bitter dryness. The mouthfeel is soft, round and quite silky. Medium full bodied.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 26, 2009 Bottle shared by Urbain @ Struise farm. Light hazy yellow in color. Very fresh farmhouse nose of yeast, yogurt, and a faint hop nose, and some dry, light candy sugar. Faint hop bitterness, minerally yeast throughout... seems like a tripel/saison hybrid, really quite delicious. Fresh, lively, nice mix of dry and sweet.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Hazy orange golden color, thick off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, some hop, orange, loads of clove, bit overdone perhaps. Taste is quite spicy, pretty sweet. Bit dry and spicy finish. Very nicely balanced. Obvious a christmas-brew, as it resembles quite some ingredients from Finnish Glug or Gluhwein.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A relatively complex, tart and spicy tripel in which the 10% ABV is not timid. Original tripel.
Appealing noble hop profile (slightly earthy and quite floral, perfumey) which complexifies the aroma. Authentic mouthfeel, biting carbonation, not too thick, almost crisp for its magnitude. Quite vinous, white grape might be the easiest fruit to pick out, though a certain tropical nature and citrusy notions can easily be perceived as well.
The generous alcohol flavours reduce the drinkability of this beer which seemed to aimed a bit towards that with its relatively lean body and dry palate. Weird combination of considerable spiciness (ginger? grains of paradise?)and tartness which steals the interesting hops’ place in the unsatisfying finish. I did not quite reach the level of enjoyment I anticipated.
