Strong blond winterbeer with fluffy white head which has been lagered for 8 months on different stonefruits. Tsjeeses was born out of a 5 year brew experience regarding x-mas beer without being capable of finding a suitable name up to now. With the name came a face, a caricature actually, that was drawn on the day Urbain, our brew master and master brewer, drank too many Tsjeeses’s. Every time he drinks one, he says "Tsjeeses, what a beer". Therefore the name is more an expression of stupefaction than a curse. We have had already many discussions around the pronounciation of "Tsjeeses". Very close would be that you say "cheeses" or cheese in plural.

11.2 oz bottle. Very murky orange/amber color with a medium sized sudsy white head. Lots of floaties. Sweet malty, doughy aroma with hints of orange marmalade, honey and pepper. Flavor is fairly sweet up front, with just enough bitterness to keep it from getting cloying. When I smelled the beer I didn’t get a strong yeast presence, but it does come out in the flavor. Black pepper, wet straw, oranges are the main flavors with the alcohol becoming very apparent as it warms. Very good and would be even better if not as sweet.

Tsjeeses, Gene. Would it have killed you to send some fresh beer? Only kidding. All jokes in poor taste aside, thanks to Travlr for the rare chance to try some aged Struise beers. Damn interesting experience if you ask me. Feel was incredibly smooth. Aroma and flavor were similarly easy-going. Caramel, butterscotch, bread, and fruity esters (pear, rose hip, banana). Color was yellow-brown. It’ll be fascinating to (hopefully) compare this with a younger batch. It’s amazing how well this beer has held up and matured over the span of 7 years.

Flaska inköpt 2013. Denna har inte utvecklats väl. Redan när kapsylen poppas flödar skummet över. Dofter av hästfilt och jordkällare rusar upp i näsan. Stora jästklumpar finns i flaska. Synd, men denna går i vasken.

(Thanks, Gene! "Travlr") Bottle. A- Caramel, butterscotch, red wine, dark stone fruits, subtle booze A- Orange copper color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Strong Butterscotch, caramel, subtle vanilla, light red wine, mildly sweet. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, complex finish. O- Lot B/6/08, So to my knowledge that is a bottle date of June 2008. Man, for 7 years of age, this has held up well consider the notches on the Lot for 9/10 which I would assume is a best by date. But I digress. It’s a good beer and has aged delightfully. Not a ton of spices present but still complex.

Bottle at Fairbar. Clear red body. Sweet, fruity aroma. Medium dry taste with light bitterness. Spicy and yeasty flavours. Light body with prickly carbonation. This seems to be the kind of Belgian ale that I usually appreciate, but for some reason or another my tastebuds were not that interested. Sure, it is good, but not spectacular.

Il commence à faire froid, on commence à faire des listes pour les cadô ... Il est donc de saison de se délecter de bières riches! A la fois simple et complexe, somme toute assez liquide, au caramel discret, des arômes confits et compotés discret et élégant. Chouette

2015: Pours light reddish brown, slightly hazy, with unstable off-white head. Visually low carbonation, with small, slow up rising bubbles. Aroma: alcohol is not detectable, strong malty sweet notes with bread and caramel like charackter, well balanced with also strong fruity notes of grape, muscat and chardonnay wine, peaches etc. Fruity esters are also very present. flavor is not so strong malty sweet, as I expected: It is more moderate malty, slightly phenolic, slightly bitter, with the same characteristics, which apply to aroma. Texture is smooth, carbonation is medium, body is medium.
