75cl, as XXX Rye Triple, new exclusive brew Anno 2012, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex brew, malty/sweet and slightly spicy/woody, balanced, cloudy, good head, good brew, yet expensive!

On tap at Animal Bar. Ruvi colour with a good formation of a light tan head, creamy and with good lacework. Aroma is light caramel and red fruits, brown sugar and barley malts, in an appropiate temperature it has notes of Porto wine and sweet Spanish wine. Flavor is sweet, with a good presence in the mouth, dense, grapes, caramel and barley malts, smooth, bready. Dense on palate with a sweet final with a decent duration. The final is alcoholic but the 10% is hidden by red fruits and caramel notes. Carbonation is soft. Body is medium to high. Texture is oily.

Tap (SBWF2012)
Woh - mostly alcohol! There are many of the usual belgian positives (fullness of body, sweet breadiness, sophisticated hoppy bite), but this is too alcoholic even to be covered by those typical belgian features. The rye aspects are nice though. More moderation, alcohol-wise, and this would be a very nice beer.

Draught at SBWF. Hazy amber, no head. Aroma of bubblegum and rye bread. Very sweet with full body. Concentrated flavours of candyish banana and bread. Fruity and sticky. Warming finish.

Draught@SBWF2012. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is liquorice, fruits, wood and some toffee. Flavour is fruity, wooden, caramelly and quite gluelike alcohol to it.

On tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. It pours an unclear, brownish golden body under a dense, finger-thick beige head. The aroma is fruity and syrupy with some notes of caramel. Decent, but a bit boring. The flavor is a tad more interesting, but I think it lacks a bit of the complexity I know Struise can put into their beers, and I expect from a tripel. Some alcohol notes giving a certain warmth, a touch of caramel, and fruityness and some sweetness. A decent bitterness shows up and lasts for a good time. Full body, soft on the palate. Definitely not a top notch beer, but also far, far from bad. 120511

Taste: bit fruity, sugary, banana, bitter hops, little yeasty, some peaches, sweet alcohol. Aftertaste: some green banana, bitter hops, bit of candi sugar, little citrus, alcohol burn in the throat, hint of milk chocolate.

Dark amber coloured with a decent head. Sweet and dry earthy beer with a good amount of spices. Not bad
