Tap @ Hair of the Dog’s ’Day of De Struise’... Poured deep red with a thin, off-white head. There was definite rye here, but didn’t play like it normally does in other rye beers. Instead it seemed to work nicely with the yeast and created a ton of fruit, dark fruit flavors and esters. Mostly had raisins and cherries. Quite nice. Good mouthfeel, full flavored, sticky on the palate. This was solid.

Pours light hazy dark amber with almost no head. Aroma has toasted caramel, light spicy rye, plums and light viniousness. Highish carbonation, fine dry mouthfeel. Lovely flavours of sweet malts and caramel, light spiciness. Fine bitterness. A very elegant tripel.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 teddybeer (1484) - Madrid, SPAIN - NOV 11, 2012
On tap at Animal Bar. Ruvi colour with a good formation of a light tan head, creamy and with good lacework. Aroma is light caramel and red fruits, brown sugar and barley malts, in an appropiate temperature it has notes of Porto wine and sweet Spanish wine. Flavor is sweet, with a good presence in the mouth, dense, grapes, caramel and barley malts, smooth, bready. Dense on palate with a sweet final with a decent duration. The final is alcoholic but the 10% is hidden by red fruits and caramel notes. Carbonation is soft. Body is medium to high. Texture is oily.

draft // Struise tasting glass @ Kulminator // fox / red fruits amber with a tanned / beige creamy, nicely lacing white head // smells very sweet, quite liqueur-like, lots of spices & other grains, some rye, touch dark & black bread // alternative grains upfront, rye, darker bread, lots of spices, sweet, liqueur, cognac, candy sugar, touch syrup like quality, sweet, spices, finish, quite boozy at the back, more than you definitely expect from a 10 % beer // despite the other grains structure, quite, creamy smooth, touch jam feel to it // definitely in line with what appears to be Urbain’s new style // extremely different from any other tripel I have had so far, difficult to even think of this as a triple, far from bad
