Bottled. Not even the 12% glory could get me excited ,man not much complexity here. Caramel rich maybe a bit of dark raisins ...it’s boring .

33cl bottle. Dark reddish brown colour with a generous white head. Prunes, ripe fruit, berries and light alcohol in the aroma. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste is sweet, fruity, with a more bitter and dry finish. Overall, a good complex beer.

TET (1989) - FINLAND - DEC 21, 2014
Vintage 2013, bbe 30.05.2019. A dark brown beer with a quite big and light brown head. The nose has strong strawberries and sweetness of berries, some dark fruits and plums. The great and fresh aroma. Taste has strawberries and dark fruits, more plums than in the aroma, some herbs and spices. Almost full bodied, not heavy, smooth carbonation. Excellent beer, strong strawberries gives the nice freshness. This isn’t very complex but that’s not bothering as the all needed pieces are there. Smooth, balanced and enojoyable.

Bottle, 2013 vintage. Pours a murky brownish beer with a nice amount of tanned head on top. Aroma is very fruity, apples, pear, caramel, malts, booze. Flavor is very sweet, again loads of fruits detected alongside sweet sugary presences. Alcohol is detectable in the mouthfeel, giving a slight burning sensation in the back. Carbonation level is low, aftertaste is long and sweet. I love a good quad, and this is one. Good stuff!

Aroma: sweet, ripe fruits, red berries, prunes, some alcohol. Appearance: slightly hazy, reddish, small, white head. Taste: medium to heavy sweet. Palate: sweets expand, yet are not overly complex, caramel, sugar, alcohol again, getting just a touch dry in the finish. Overall: nice Quadrupel, yet does not quite make it to the top league, lacks complexity. Bottle from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn.

Alengrin (2990) - BELGIUM - NOV 30, 2014
Genuine quadrupel with creamy, yellowish light beige, stable head and hazy dark burgundy colour. Complex, sweet aroma of raisins, banana, cloves, plums, cocoa powder, candied orange, port wine, cinnamon, baked apple, nougat and marzipan. Big sweet fruitiness in the mouth, soft and full mouthfeel, candi syrup sweetness, orange peel, sharpish carbo, deep caramelly and somewhat nutty and chocolatey malt backbone, smooth, yeasty with ever so slightly roasted bitterishness in the finish as well as spicy hops and vinous, port-like, warming alcohol. A must try if you are into this style.

Nose: very fruity, surprising hint of summer fruits, banana, orange, candy sugar, almond, emerging dark fruits, particularly glacier cherry. Taste is similarly fruity, lots of strawberry, banana, hints of cream, caramel, marzipan, rich butter scotch, sweet honey, candy sugar, pears, sweets, some dark fruits emerge later. Mouthfeel is great. This is hard beer to rate, it’s a really strange profile for a quad, it forgoes the dark heavy flavours expected at the front end, making something surprisingly sweet and light, without sacrificing richness. The traditional quad is elsewhere in the range, and I think this is quite unique. I am siding on unexpected brilliance, but it’s so sweet I may tire of it.

Testée avec Fabien. Couleur cuivre transparent, fine mousse blanche. Arome de caramel, cannelle, pain d’épice. Gout plutôt sucré, avec une légère amertume qui contrebalance. Au final une bonne quadruple, légèrement ecoeurante sur la durée mais suffisamment complexe et équilibrée.

Amber, quite hazy, big beige creamy head. Smell of caramel, toast, dark and dried frutis. Heavy sweet, super fruity, dark fruits, raisins and ficus. A splendid complex quad.

75cl bottle served in a Struise glass. Pours a dark tangerine colour with a wonderfully generous head which billows and lasts admirably. Aroma is very powerful - almost barley wine-like in its strength. Taste is butterscotch, honeyed oranges, caramel and richness with a few spices (cinnamon, nutmeg) thrown in for good measure with banana like creaminess in the finish. The ABV becomes more apparent as the temperature warms but is hidden particularly well up to this point. A sweet and pudding-like richness. Best enjoyed by itself after a nice meal.
