maledictum (647) - Pyongyang, NORTH KOREA - JUL 9, 2014
Pours hazy dark wooden brown with a small creamy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is sweet with sweet dark spicy bread, pears, candi sugar, plums, overripe grapes, apples and orange zest. Taste is sweet and fruity with pears, apples, grapes, orange zest, plums, nuts, golden syrup and alcohol. Mouthfeel is sticky sweet, tiny boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and fruity with bread, plums, grapes, pears and alcohol.

Bottle at home. High and long lasting creamy off-white head. Hazy dark amber body. Very sweet fruity aroma. Very sweet apple pear flavor in a nice mixture with the alcohol, little hops, low carbonation, long sweet finish.

Bottle, from Struise Shop Brugge, at JF’s BBQ 15/06/14. Lightly murky orange amber with a little flotsam and jetsam bobbing up and down (I forgave them) topped with a well appointed beige covering that stays to make friends. Nose is vanilla essence, oaky booze, caramelised sugars, dark fruit peel. Taste comprises dark fruit rinds, fruit cake mix in goo form, vanilla pangs, dates, figgy resonance, light spice, oaky woodness. Full bodied, fine carbonation, drinks well for the ABV which is well masked. Solid quad.

@ Havregatan. Bottle (330 ml) from Kihoskh, Copenhagen (46 DKK). Fruity and malty, yeasty and a bit spicy, sweet caramel with notes of banana and marzipan, medium to full body and an oily texture. The finish is dry, bitter, fruity, sweet and yeasty with some booze. Really nice on.

330mL bottle, pours a murky amber brown with a small beige head. Nose brings out notes of toffee, rye bread, some burnt caramel and brown sugar. Flavour brings out dates, figs, toffee and some caramel sweetness. Booze is extremely well-concealed. Complex, fruity and sweet but nowhere close to cloying. Excellent stuff.

At Zeebra II. Clear body, deep orange copper in colour. Maybe one finger of off-white head, with average retention, leaving light lacing on the glass. Malty aroma with peaches and some dark fruits, prunes-like. Taste is sweet with peaches, a bit of yeast, prunes, malts, alcohol notable. Medium body, carbonation on the high side. Overall okay, maybe a bit too boozy.
