Commercial Description:
The Noordhoek Ostrich Farm and Resort has been offering visitors an oasis of silence, tranquility and green pasture since 1997. In 2001 we began offering our guests fresh, homemade ale, "Struise Witte" was born. The dutch word for "ostriches" is "struisvogels" or "Struise", but the same word can also mean "sturdy" or "robust". This "Robust White" is a living wheat beer of high fermentation, unfiltered and unpasteurized. Brewed with natural ingredients, bottle conditioned in 33 cl bottles.

Bottle pours a straw yellow color with a monster head and awesome lace. The aroma is of apple, lemon, yeast, and spice. The flavor is tart and spiced, with a refreshingly crisp and quenching body. This is decent and underrated.

Bottle. Pale golden amber with a nice whitish head. Tart, lemon, spice aroma. Wheat flavor with tart lemon, spice, and yeast. Medium light bodied. LIngering tartness with wheat and a bit of spice. Refreshing. A bit too much wheat flavor for me.

Bottle. Poured a light yellow with a small white head, pretty carbonated. Aroma of light fruits (apple, pear, citrus). Taste of the same light fruits also some darker fruits like plum. The taste also had lots of spice that really complemented the beer and didn’t overpower it. A nice blend of flavors. Very refreshing and very drinkable. I loved this!

liked this perhaps a little more than most. Bottle courtesy of Knightly Spirits in Orlando (Thanks Alan!) Poured into a tumbler. The smell has a hint of vinegar in it, as well as the traditional apricot smell of a good belgian white. Has a smallish white head thats very fizzy. Very interesting white, its a very crisp clean drink with a ton of carbonation perhaps a bit to much and a strong apple flavor, with a very very faint touch of sour in the finish. Sweet and clean and you can taste the alchol a tad which I find a bit unusual for the style. Well crafted but different, probably one of my favorite whites.

11.2 oz. brown bottle. Cryptic date code on side of label. Poured out a bright but hazy yellow color. Has a thin white head. Aromas are citrus, some bubblegum, tropical fruits. Flavors are of tropical fruits, citrus, vanilla cake. Decent body & mouthfeel. OK beer overall.

2008-03-03. Golden yellow body with a small white head. Very mild aroma, lightly yeasty (6+). Flavour shows a surprising amount of alcohol for a 5% abv brew. Light yeast, very mild hints at citrus. (6+) Average palate is smooth and wheat beer like (3+). Pleasant, but just okay.

Poured from an 11.2 oz. bottle. Transparent, gold color. Apple juice, with french toast, butterscotch and maple in the aroma; rather strong in sweetness with a comparatively quiet presence of tartness. Very doughy and syrupy. Sharp flavor of brisk green spices and agave, vanilla, and cardamom, with lots of buttery sweetness reappearing toward the finish. Crisp, tart palate that’s a little more full than the typical example; finishes with a bit of vinegar, more sweet butter and apple. Lacking in usual qualities, but still refreshing and fairly interesting.

11.2 oz bottle. Odd aroma. Bananas, rubber and alcohol. Quite dry with a touch of dust and agave. Pours light, slightly unclear gold. with minimal head. Highly carbonated. Notes of lavender, soap, rubber, agave, dusty yeast. Odd. Plenty of carbonation with lingering residual soapiness coating my tongue.
