In 2001 we began offering our guests fresh, homemade ale, "Struise Witte" was born. The dutch word for "ostriches" is "struisvogels" or "Struise", but the same word can also mean "sturdy" or "robust". This "Robust White" is a living wheat beer of high fermentation, unfiltered and unpasteurized. Brewed with natural ingredients, bottle conditioned in 33 cl bottles.

Clear light blond, white head. Not much aroma. Tastes somewhat like a combination between a blond and a belgian white. Not impressive.

Poured almost clear and bright with an instantly disappearing white head, Aroma of zesty citrus. Medium bodyfeel and flavour of sweet citrus with a lingering dry aftertaste.

Bottle at home (from Het Oude Schooltje, Oostvleteren) - 22/10/12. Pours an obscured golden amber with a thin white head. Light floral tones on the nose, a little yeast and wheat, citrus notes, grain. Tastes of light citrus fruit, barley, light hops, orange peel, touch of apricot, sweetish malts. Medium bodied, lowish level of carbonation for a wit which was a pleasant change. Dryish finish.

Pale amber colour with plenty of white and not too much compact head. Marked and regular lace. Aromas to citrics, fruit, slight pineapple, malt and the alcohol present. In mouth is light, watery, low-bodied, with flavours correspondent to the aromas and a final touch of liquorice, but all of them very weak. Short development and palate. It’s refreshing and light, but, in my opinion, is very below average of the witbiers, or almost, of you can expect from a witbier. Correct, but nothing else.

bottle from beer planet. cloudy yellow, smooth white head. Aroma of yeast and a little barnyard, mild sweet spices, mild wheaty sweetness.Flavor is yeasty, yeasty-spicy-bitter, faint wheat notes, bitterhoppy notes, VERY belgian, and not that wheat-like. Neither is it citrussy as some other witbier i’ve had. somewhat more bitter and spicy instead. rustic.
