Commercial Description:
The Noordhoek Ostrich Farm and Resort has been offering visitors an oasis of silence, tranquility and green pasture since 1997. In 2001 we began offering our guests fresh, homemade ale, "Struise Witte" was born. The dutch word for "ostriches" is "struisvogels" or "Struise", but the same word can also mean "sturdy" or "robust". This "Robust White" is a living wheat beer of high fermentation, unfiltered and unpasteurized. Brewed with natural ingredients, bottle conditioned in 33 cl bottles.

There’s something weird to this aroma, almost milky. Not sour milk, but the aroma of fresh milk and I have no idea (and this glass has never touched a dairy product, nor had I eaten a dairy product in the same 12 hour period). A bit of coriander, and the flavor is a lot of candied malt. Only the slightest hint of tartness or bitterness, and a very mild and pleasant brett funk in the finish.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a large long lasting white head that lasts leaving good lacing. Aroma of citrus, wheat, and a touch of brett leathery goodness. Taste is the same as aroma with just a hint of acidity and a more pronounced brett character. Medium mouthfeel with a high amount of carbonation and very mild bitterness. Very good.

Bottle. Cloudy, hazy gold pour. Lots of head. Some fruits and grain in the aroma, but a bit muted. Flavor is slightly sour, some banana and coriander. Grainy farmhouse feel. Drinkable and relaxing.

Climbs with snowy froth. Soft and rocky. Fruit in the nose is mostly orange but strawberry also. Tips with little pippy darts of black things if you’re not steady. Poured clearish initially but what remained in the bottle looked and sniffed like Bailey’s and melted Caramac. Threw that in too. Banana, apple, toffee, musty hop, discreet coriander. Fruity, unspicy, silky Wit.

11.2 fl oz bottle SW No.1 on the label. Pours a hazy orange with a tall white head. Nice nose citrus yeast creamy some corriander. The flavor follows over carbonated but leading into a soft creaminess from the wheat ... orange citrus and lemon flavors turning tart and sour near the finish. The wheat flavors are apparent but subdued. Pretty decent wit.

Botte, pour resulted in a generous head in a normally non-conducive to head generation glass. The color was pale golden, some murkiness to it. Lacing decent. The aroma was citrus, phenolic spices, light coriander. The flavor was mostly citrus, somewhat "watered" down flavors by the citrus elements, gently sour (but not my cup of tea when grabbing a wit from the fridge). Phenolic yeast products most significant among the spices, also coriander and probably other added spices I could not identify. Wheaty touch in the finish after it warmed. Mouthfeel was quite light, would have enjoyed more malt in the base flavors, although after a 23mi evening bike ride this was a refreshing finish (just not worth import prices).

Bottle purchased @ Sputyen Dyuvil Market in Williamsburg. Pours cloudy yellow orange with a big puffy head. The nose is sweet and bodes well. Taste is very nicely cool and crisp and nicely sweet great Belgian witte.

Appealing light golden slightly cloudy appearance with a short white head. Flavor is quite bready with sweet malt, banana, and a touch of citrus to balance it. A slightly bitter almost roasted finish contrasts well with the sweet fruit. This is certainly one of the best witbiers I have tried. It is light yet flavorful. Very nice.
