egajdzis (3602), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 25, 2007 Updated: Aug 28, 2007Enjoyed poolside in DC... Poured a murky amber color with a medium sized white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of toffee malts, light bread, a bit of brett, leather, and light spices. Taste of earth, more toffee malt, coriander, tart brett, a bit of spices, and citrus fruits, with a sour finish. unrulythings (73), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 23, 2007 interesting wit. color is pale, a bit cloudy. aroma is light, doughy and pleasing. flavor threw me off with a heavy citrus taste. not much spice. though a good beer, not my favorite of this style. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA Aug 21, 2007 It’s a strange wit with an absent spice character. Cloudy pour reveals a large head. Very minimal aromatics, not much to describe. Flavor is awfully sour and again, either unspiced or delicately spiced. Very sour and strange, I don’t like it much. DrHomolka (726), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 14, 2007 11.2oz bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with a huge, bubbly white head. Lots of bubbles rising to the top and smokiness from the yeast. Aroma is pretty intense considering the style. Wheat, yeast, clove, lemons, pudding, bread, vanilla, oranges. Taste is yeasty, doughy, thin, acidic with a short finish. Lemony burps pursue. This smells significantly more complex and better than it tastes. It’s still good. I’m a fan of this underrated style and this is definitely a strong example. Nice witte. beastiefan2k (1590), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Aug 13, 2007 11.2oz bottle poured into tulip glass. Color is pale yellow but very murky, so despite all the radiant light one cannot see through the beer. The head pours very large but fades quickly into a moderate lacing. Aroma is very present with milky, sugary sweet Belgian yeastiness. There is some faint citrus/lemon zest. Taste does a 180 and is really dominated by a tanginess that is a bit of a turn off, not feeling it. Original, but just not that for me. A medium body and a delicate carbonation just delicately felt on the cheek. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Aug 9, 2007 330 cl bottle brought to me from Belgium by my daughter. Hazy light gold pour under an impressive white head with good staying power. Very yeasty, bready aroma with hints of citrus. This has somewhat more body than most Witbiers, there’s a refreshing effervescence, and some nice mouth cleansing acidity. Interesting interplay between honey sweetness and a lemon like sourness, and just the faintest touch of soft bitterness for a clean , dry finish. A very superior Witbier. I wish I could get this all the time. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 9, 2007 Bottle: Pours a clear gold with a big fizzy white head. Aroma, yeasty, some spices, floral notes, and some bready malts. Flavor, bready, spices, light fruits, some tartness, lemons, some floral notes. Very nice. RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Aug 8, 2007 Bottle. Aroma: Wheat maltiness, lemony citrus, peppery spiciness with some coriander notes, light floral. Appearance: Light yellow in color and slightly hazed. Bright white head was huge and foamy with good retention. Nice lacing. Flavor: Wheat, malt, and yeast. Peppery spice and floral notes. Lemony citrus with a surprising amount of sourness. Medium dry finish. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: Not your typical wit, but interesting. I liked the sourness, but would have liked some more flavors to back it up.
