Commercial Description:
The Noordhoek Ostrich Farm and Resort has been offering visitors an oasis of silence, tranquility and green pasture since 1997. In 2001 we began offering our guests fresh, homemade ale, "Struise Witte" was born. The dutch word for "ostriches" is "struisvogels" or "Struise", but the same word can also mean "sturdy" or "robust". This "Robust White" is a living wheat beer of high fermentation, unfiltered and unpasteurized. Brewed with natural ingredients, bottle conditioned in 33 cl bottles.

Unclear orange with fine white head. Spicy earbal wheat aroma. Fruity yeast, & light alcohol. Lively carbonation -peach,apple - sour earthy sweet. Good lacings. What an experience!

Bottle from the Blue Dog. Dense flocullation on the bottom; poured a straw body with cloudy particulate load and a fading sudsy white head. Light-toasted wheat aroma with mild notes of butter and citrus peel. Flavor has aspects of nuts, honey, citrus, herbal spice, and meaty yeast. Some autolysis in this one. Not exactly what I’m looking for in this style range.

From 33 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a one finger thick white head, long lasting becoming thick and creamy. Aroma is slight citric and yeasty, slight malty sweet and spiced. Sweet malt flavoured with spice notes (some darker spices as well) and complex yeast profile, but very classic belgian. Mellow malty finish with presence of bitterness.

Typical, whitish yellow color, very hazy and turbulent. Aroma is complex, fruit, spicy and slightly malty. Flavor begins on the sweetish side, but dries to a plesant finish. Exceeded my expectations, nice wit.

Creamy, mid-sized white head. Cloudy off-white/golden body with orange hues, looks pulpy. Good retention throughout the duration. Tropical fruit notes bring in the aroma, with noble hops, and soft grains. the focal point of the fruit is pineapple(esters), banana(wheat) and orange(coriander), a combination that blends together to seem almost like the juice that contains these three fruits you’d find on a supermarket shelf. Alcohol is not noticeable. Hints of wheated malt round out the nose. Wheat is far more apparent in the flavor, which is quite tart. Some background citric acidity captures and restrains overzealous yeast. Lactic notes present. The mouthfeel is smooth, milky and slightly grainy. Finish is smooth, but far from clean; rather, it’s a clouded cluster of spicy wheat and yeast with hints of fruit. Pretty tasty but not something I’m interested in sampling again.

330 ml bottle. Beautiful apperance; A dense and stable white head over a hazy greyish yellow body. Lots of ripe banana in the aroma along with notes of perfume, bubblegum and sweetish wheat. Clean and rounded taste; sweet citrus, mild spices and malt/wheat. Proper body. Smooth mouthfeel. Appears as a successful mixture of a German Weisse and a Belgian Wit. Very inviting, very drinkable.
