COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Noordhoek Ostrich Farm and Resort has been offering visitors an oasis of silence, tranquility and green pasture since 1997. In 2001 we began offering our guests fresh, homemade ale, "Struise Witte" was born. The dutch word for "ostriches" is "struisvogels" or "Struise", but the same word can also mean "sturdy" or "robust". This "Robust White" is a living wheat beer of high fermentation, unfiltered and unpasteurized. Brewed with natural ingredients, bottle conditioned in 33 cl bottles.

Pours a foggy gold. White head. Nose is like a chocolate banana bread. But no real strong character from either of those two that really give distinction. It’s really just a vague hit that I get that I am pulling. Airy citrus. Flavor is a bitter citrus that has a kick me in the mouth tang. Calms down over time, but it stays there. Feel has a decently bodied liquid feel and the carbonation is good. Overall the verdict is that it’s pretty good, but definitely not worth the price. Even though it’s a pretty good one, hindsight leads me to feel like I wouldn’t have missed anything if I had passed on trying this one.

I can see what certain beer drinkers would like about this beer, but this falls a bit too tart for my general liking. malts are slightly thin, the tartness puts me off, I find this just barley drinkable.

The aroma weak and malty but it is also spicy and sour elements. The appearance is hazy gold with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is this. Overall I don’t care much for this one.

(33cl bottle, courtesy of DerDoppelbock) Hazy, golden coloured effervescent hue with a big and creamy white foam, slowly lacing. Yeasty, moderately sweet and wheaty nose with strong spicy notes of coriander and clove, plastic-like phenols, but rather restrained citrus-fruity aspects. Light-sweet flavour, moderate wheat-character accompanied by strong spicy notes and a subdued fruitiness; light to medium bodied with a carbonation that could be a bit more spritzy; light-acidic, spicy and slightly sticky finish. Not that convincing.

Bottle. Light light unclear yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, wheat, moderate yeasty, citrus, notes of strawberry. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Very complex, tastfull and refreshing. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. ;o)) (111007)

Bottle (33 cl). Hazy golden with a fluufy white head. Earthy and slightly flowery aroma, with some faint fruity notes of apricot and melon, along with some yeasty notes. Light to medium bodied and very smooth. Good balance with a light sweetness and a moderate bitterness. A discrete but subtle witbier.

In the bottle from Beertopia. Pours a flaxen gold with a medium-sized white head. Mild apricot aroma. Extremely dry beer. Tart lemon-like finish. Very unsatisfying to me. Just too dry and lifeless.

Pours a very bubbly , lightly hazy gold orange, with a thick, foamy well-retained white head. Smells of distinct orange citrus, wheat fenoles, and and yeast. The flavor is very profound on the citrus flavors. The orange seems to be the biggest character. The wheat seems to be lacking somewhat, as I didnt get much of the traditional banana or clove that I usually get for this style. Still not bad, but not what I was expectig.
