ARMed (485), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 16, 2008 Its tough for me to find a strong flaw in this beer becuase it is exceptionallly easy to drink and has a fantastic unique flavor with a great body (all of the most desirable elements of a truly great beer in one’s eyes). One minor drawback is that the head quickly disaapates rather than lingers around the glass. However, the high carbonation keeps you wanting more. The slightly sour undertones are very appealing and make me think it is similar to a German gose beer. A very great brew by Struise that now makes me want to try all thier beers! movezig (137), Pensacola, Florida, USA Oct 16, 2008 Pretty good white. Sort of lacked in taste my only problem. Comparing to hoegaarden or bernardus. Nose was good some light vanilla, light fruit, acidic character. Flavor has the same, light vanilla but a bit more acid and fruit. Was a nice white. Only Struise im able to get around here :(. Very light palate. thooper41 (384), Oregon, USA Oct 8, 2008 11.2 oz bottle: pours a hazy light brown with slow fading white head, aroma filled with yeast wheat and some slight citrus fruit, full bodied flavor lots of wheat some yeasty notes along with some spices fruit and slightly sour. very well made beer IMO. MrChopin (622), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 20, 2008 Updated: Sep 27, 2008Opaque gold/yellow with a large white head, long-lived and foamy. Nose of oranges, yeast, wheat, and cottage cheese. What? Flavor is equally as confusing and mismatched, sour and spritzy yet lactic and cheesey, orange, pepper. Palate is fizzy yet sickeningly creamy. I am lost with this one. Of those I have tasted, easily the worst Struise beer. Bad even for any beer. Feinschmecker (179), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 16, 2008 Bottle.
Carbonated, hazy orange color with a fruity yeasty aroma. I find that this beer drinks easy and has a sweet and light flavor. The yeast component forms a major part of the flavor as well. Struise witte is definitely lacks the coriander aspect I come to expect from this style, but this is very drinkable and I can imagine putting away a couple of these on a sweltering summer day. SHIG (2012), Aviano, Italy Sep 6, 2008 Bottle: Poured a brown yellow hazy with carbonation, medium lacing white head. Aroma is thick yeast/bread like, light citrus. Taste is sweet malty and yeast, not exactly what I think of when I drink a witte. Very interesting! kosko20 (302), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Aug 25, 2008 Good looking beer. pale gold orange but with a beautiful white head and streaming bubbles. Aroma: pears, white grapes, hints of wheat and other fruity notes. Flavor: white grapes, very reminiscent of a white wine but actually tastes good. Also pears, wheat, and hints of other fruits. Seems like some spices are in there too. Palate is nice. It has a smooth body, light mouthfeel and the finish is on the dry end. Overall, impressive for a witbier, probably one of the better ones out there. markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Aug 22, 2008 This beer pours a golden color with a unique aroma. It has a strong apple and sour orange aroma which emerges as the bubbly head subsides. The flavor is the same as the aroma with pieces of sharp lemon and I swear I tasted some lime. No lace on the glass, but it was an interesting beer. A bit disappointing for a Struise.
