The Noordhoek Ostrich Farm and Resort has been offering visitors an oasis of silence, tranquility and green pasture since 1997. In 2001 we began offering our guests fresh, homemade ale, "Struise Witte" was born. The dutch word for "ostriches" is "struisvogels" or "Struise", but the same word can also mean "sturdy" or "robust". This "Robust White" is a living wheat beer of high fermentation, unfiltered and unpasteurized. Brewed with natural ingredients, bottle conditioned in 33 cl bottles.

Pours a slightly hazy ale-like colour with a slim but creamy head. Nose with citrus- and sweet fruits, honey, caramel, wheat and malts. Taste is round and fresh with the mentioned notes and without any (big) bitterness. Firm body with medium carbonation. Good flavours without high alcohol grade: it’s a very nicely drinkable beer.

On tap at Oblivion. Nose is light citrus, grassy, wheat notes, spices. Belgian yeast. Pour is yellow. White head. Flavor is spicy, full bodied citrus and wheat notes. Coriander. Nice stuff.

330ml bottle shared at home. Pretty classic wit-looking beer. Pale yellow, big white head. Grainy smelling, with citrus peel and coriander going on too. Good quaffer on a sunny day.

Nice witbier with more malt than usual. Has a full taste, with notes of fruits. I am user to more special brews from Struise though.

Bottle @ home. Clear pale to golden yellow with a small white head that doesn’t last long. Smells fresh, malts. Tastes refreshing, mandarin, slightly sourish, malty and herbs. Not a bad witbier! Medium body, nice carbo.

Thank you bu11zeye for sending me this a class gentleman. The beer is not too pretty to look at murky light tan yellow. By the look of it and aroma and taste it does make you wonder if it is old. A delicious and unique Witte. Big Belgian honey malt sweet aroma. Mild tartness on the nose. My beer is actually quite sour. Which lends to the curiosity of it. A little funk. Very very rustic farmhouse feel. Nice treat. Thanks BZ.

33cl bottle at home, shared with Mathieu87. APPEARANCE: clear blond beer, small unstable white head. Completely flat. NOSE: amber like, little white wine like even, grains, quite fresh, lytchee. TASTE: lytchee, bitter, fruity, mango, grass, little dry, little sourness. Will probably age well.

Smells good, but not like other white bears. Small head. Gold color, little cloudy with medium carbonation. Tastes good, but more like blond beer than white. Good but not great. No aftertaste.

Bleekgele kleur. Aroma van mou en gist. Vrij zoete smaak met een lichtbittere afdronk. Niet echt een witbier vind ik.......
